Re: engine wiring harness questions
I rebuilt my front wiring harness when I added relays to my lights. I just went to a really good local hardware store and got wire that closely resembled the stock colors and went at it. You can buy the connectors that go inside the fuse box at NAPA so that everything fits well and you aren't half-assing it.
If it'll help, I can take pics in the next couple of days of the firewall fuse panel and what wire goes where in there. Keep in mind that I have a I-6 and a V-8 might be different, but should still have all the important stuff in the same spot (ie. HEI, lights, temp sending unit wire, heater, brake light sending unit, ammeter, etc)

Re: engine wiring harness questions
brad,
thanks, but i was hoping that someone had already done the same engine wiring replacement & they could just tell me ie: the yellow & blue wire go to this or the black & red wire go to that. that is what i was hoping for. again brad thanks for the offer!!! that what this board is for & that is why i like it sooo much!!! rodstored-72 |

Re: engine wiring harness questions
I used an M+H factory replacement harness as well.
I had no problem with wire length. The front headlight harness goes behind the drivers fender then along the rad core to the headlights and battery. The eng harness runs along the cowel, the HEI feed will drop down from there and then the starter feed will drop down beside the heater core houseing.

Re: engine wiring harness questions
Only issue I had was I swapped in a 454 and the alternator is on the opposite side. I just changed how I laid that portion of the harness out. It is not how I would prefer, but I haven't bothered cutting the wires and rerouting it. Glad the info looks helpful.
