non-factory seat belts wadya think of this?

I was thinking of installing a set of belts from my old 88 Ciera wagon in my 68. I like them because they have the feature of not pulling tight against your chest due to a relaxing-ratchet type of affair. this way I can have shoulder and lap belts on the cheap. should be interesting with my 89 F150 seat. I plan on reinforcing the floor where they mount with some 1/8" plates welded to the floor. I just need to figure out the plunger deal for the ratchet thing.
if this all works I will take pics and possibly do a write-up of the install.
