Towed home - clutch problem

I went to shift and the clutch would not disengage the trans. I felt grinding in the pedal and had to kill the motor before coming to a stop when I couldn't get it out of gear.

Removed the bottom cover and had the wife work the pedal and the throwout bearing is working fine. However, the disc stays against the flywheel no matter how I adjust the linkage. There is only 30k miles on the setup, but I guess maybe the pressure plate gave out? Looks like I will be pulling it apart this weekend. Any ideas?

Re: Towed home - clutch problem

I've had a piece of the lining come loose before and get between the flywheel and the rest of the lining, the extra thickness wouldn't let it disengage enough; also had a spring break on a three finger pressure plate and wedge inside, it wouldn't let the plate pull away from the disc on that side...

Hate to say it but looks like it's time to change the pressure plate

Check Northern Auto Parts, I just got a new Pioneer set for 87 bucks , disk, plate, bearing and bushing plus tool, looks OK to me.

Glad you got her fixed. I hate it when you never know what happened. Later, Jeff.
