Sunday dinner time, what progress did ya'll make over the weekend?
I see some guys starting to check in with progress reports. So, I guess it's time to clean up hands and put away tools for the weekend.
Myself, I got the 75 model rearend converted from leaf spring setup over to coil spring setup using some ECE axle saddles. Then, I installed it into the Suburban. I also completely redid the brakes on the rearend, bead blasting and painting all hardware, along with new shoes and wheel cylinders. I built a pair of lowering blocks for it too. See different thread on that, with pictures. Before next weekend, I hope to blast and paint my two rear wheels and install new tires on them, so I can get the truck on the ground. I'm also going to shorten my driveshaft an inch. I'm going to attempt to do it myself, instead of paying a shop to do it. Then, I need to build a new rear brake line. Finally, I need to make a pair of shock extenders. I'm still scratching my head on this, but I'll get it done. I just have to figure out the best way to do it. So, what did ya'll get done this weekend, and what are your next week's plans? .

Re: Sunday dinner time, what progress did ya'll make over the weekend?
Well, this was actually LAST saturday's work, but I got a little sidetracked after getting this done.
I installed the hockey puck clearance lamp assemblys on the Longhorn. I wasn't sure if I was going to like this, so i figured i'd test it out on a junk cab. Now, I'll know if I'll be needing a cab with the lamp spots or not... so far, I think I like. I still need to run a harness in there, and then I'll be popping in some LED bulbs in there and hooking it all up to the tail light circuit, but so far, I think i tlooks pretty cool. I had planned on haulin a load of scrap yesterday, and then installing the wood floor in the bed, but I had forgotten about it being a holiday weekend and the junk yard was closed by the time I got there. I REALLY don't want to unload, load, and unload again, so I did what any lazy man would do and just left it all there. (Hey... I'm on vacation, leave me the **** alone. ) Dean should be shippin me a harness for the clearance lamps in exchainge for a set of LEDs for his dash. This weekend, I did put some mooneyes stickers in the tool box in the back, and a moon eyes airfreshener. (I was like a kid in a Candy store when I walked into there shop) |

I didn't do anything, except Friday I was doing some more welding on my home-built trailer. Got everything welded and lights hooked up. Gonna set the welder back down on it sometime. I'll be hauling I beams next Saturday and I might get the welding bed payed off too.

Re: Sunday dinner time, what progress did ya'll make over the weekend?
Hey Andy, I have the later 71-85 teardrop lights on mine and they were easy to install and look good. Running the wire harness was the hard part. I used a long piece of bailing wire to help run the wires from one hole to the next, and down the windshield post. Here's a pic of 'em.(oh yeah that's the new painted hood on there, picked that up from the bodyshop last week)

Re: Sunday dinner time, what progress did ya'll make over the weekend?
I went to the pick a part 1/2 off sale saturday and i got a set of matching 15" wheels(and tires). I have to sandblast them and have them powdercoated tomorrow. Oh yeah, I also got a centerlink off of a 1978 chevy pickup. That's the last thing I need for my disc brake swap. Sandblast that and paint it and I'll have pics of the assembly.

A chevy grill came off of it pretty easily too! (remember, that is a 70 chevy longhorn)
Heck, that's actually a chevy bumper... maybe that's why it looks so bad, i painted the grill to match the fugly bumper! Stick that in yer pipe and smoke it! |

I got my wreck out of storage..and realized over 20 miles of 70mph speeds that 3.73's and a 3 speed std really suck. On a bonus note, I got a free 67 hood that needs a little work...not bad!

I watched EdB cut rear floor pans out of a 55 Chevy. Other than that I was being a taxi driver and celebrating that my wife is still here after 10 years.
