C 50 parts
Does any body know of any place or junkyards that might have some front fenders for a 60-66 C40-C50-C60. I could really use a set. there must be a pair left in the good ol usa somewhere. some of the busses had the same style on them. Thanks LOu from the rust belt usa.

Re: C 50 parts
Would fenders off of a '64 2-ton GMC work?? I think the truck is a 5000 series.
I am considering buying it for some of the other parts on it and the front fenders are solid and straight. Let me know.

I honestly dont know if they will or not. Hopefully some body on the board will chime in and let us know. I will do some research and try to find out. what would yoube asking for the fenders. shipping would probably be a killer. Thanks lou.

Re: C 50 parts
They should be the same as long as the GMC is not a LCF(low cab forward) model. The LCF has kind of a pug-nosed look with a shorter hood and the doors are notched in the front lower corners for the fenders. The C series big trucks use the same doors and hood as the pickups.

Re: C 50 parts
I just looked at some 64-66 C 10 pickups on e bay and they are nothing like the C50 fenders. The C 50 fenders are out farther than the hood and they go down to meet the running boards with a 8 or 10 inch spacer between the fender and the running board. does this make sense . ????? thanks lou. I will try to get some pics in the near future and post.

Re: C 50 parts
Right. The C series big trucks use the same doors and hood as the pickups, but the fenders are bigger and the grill shell is taller. The LCF models, which look the same at first glance, use a shorter hood and the lower front corners of the doors are cut at an angle where they meet the fenders. This is a picture of a LCF truck.

Re: C 50 parts
Biglou55, this is a 65 C series(not mine, but I wish). Do your fenders look like these? I remember seeing some on a C40, I think, that did not stick out as far as these, but I can't remember what the C50 fenders look like.

Re: C 50 parts
Not bad at all. The winch alone is probably worth more than that. I've paid much more for stuff I had to haul home. What engine does it have?

Re: C 50 parts
It has a six I dont know what size. It has been to cold here to crawl around it yet. It is still sitting in the next town from me. I probably will have it towed home in the early spring. some times i envy you warm weather people. I have been on the 67-72 side of this board for about two years. A 68 fleet from cali. a 71 short step and enough parts to build a 72 short step. This is my first endeavor into the larger trucks and a different era.

Re: C 50 parts
If it's the original engine, the standard engine for the 65 C50 was the 230, but it was also available with the 292 six. It's easy to tell them apart, the 230 has the mounts directly across from each other and the 292 has the right side mount kicked forward a few inches. And most anything could have been put in there in forty years, too.
Yes, I know what you mean about the weather. I could not take the cold weather you guys have. We got down to 32 degrees this morning, which is about as cold as we see this time of year. It's supposed to be around 60 degrees on Christmas day. My kids(8 & 10 yrs old) have never seen snow, and I've rarely seen it myself. I've been around big trucks most all my life. I don't nearly know it all, but if I can help you I'm happy to, so please don't be afraid to ask. 60-66 Nut

Re: C 50 parts
Big Lou,
Well, I've got good news and I've got bad news. Good news is the GMC fenders are a dead nuts match. Bad news is that someone else bought the truck early this morning. Damn!! Looks like we both loose out. Next time I won't wait. Thanx anyway, rwg

Re: C 50 parts
OK Look at the photos below, you will see there are TWO differnet frenders on these truck, the older trucks tend to have the BIG Flares, while the newer truck have the small ones. the reason was that the older truck had wider fron ends due mostly to the independent front suspension, but the wide flares were also used on the bigger seires trucks in the later years too. You just need to know that you have small flares.

Re: C 50 parts
Hey Big Lou
I have a 63 checy C-50 and there are fenders and front clips and such on ebay every now and again. I called around to some of the older less known salvage yards in New England and some of them had parts available its just a hit or miss sort of thing unfortunately. On another note i apologize about or previous fender deal they were ruind in an industrial accident.....I ran over them with my John Deere and when i tried to PM you your in box was full. If I come across a clip I will PM or reply here. There was a clip on Ebay last month in Connecticut that did not sell . On ebay right now there is a 66 c60 w/ ggod fenders and its at $127.50 follow this link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevr...QQcmdZViewItem hope it helps |
