I'll tell you exactly what's wrong with it. It's not sitting in my driveway... LOL

Re: So what do you think is wrong with this truck?

The only thing that is suppose to be wrong with it is the AC needs hooked up, the cowl panel needs painted, and the front bumper needs replaced (dented). I dont like the color, wheels or interior so that is what I will be changing. Im not a real big stepside fan so I might slap a swb fleetside bed on it.

at the risk of sounding like an ass......why dont you buy a truck with , a different color, different interior , different bed ??? seems you'd spend a butt load of money changing what you dont like when you could buy what you want for probably a bit cheaper in the long run .......just my .02

Looks like a good deal to me, even with the stuff you don't like. How many miles on the motor?

You always have to do a little tweaking to make it yours... Looks like a good starting point.

good deal, the trucks pretty much good to go. nice interior/seats, even though i don't like the upholstery design.

All the work done is done by me, kind of a hobby. I refuse to pay anyone to do anything. I can buy the tools and do it myself for the same price, and I know it is done right. What fun is it buying something someone else built. Ever priced a GenIII motor, 4L60E, modified wire harness, modified computer, etc? I paid $5500 for all of that and got a clean straight rust free air conditioned truck thrown in. Thats the way I look at it. Need any work done?

Re: So what do you think is wrong with this truck?

Thanks for the kind words guys. I actually just bought a clean rust free 68 that I am planning on putting a 6 litre motor, 4 wheel disk brakes, big wheels etc. I came across this truck after buying all of the stuff for mine I spoke about above. Added up what I have spent so far and pretty much decided I would be a fool for not hitting the buy it now, right now!! So I did. I figure an interior make over, some paint and some big billet wheels, and I have a pretty good investment. Not to mention I have something to look at to help me build my other truck. It certainly wont kill me to have something to cruise this summer to local car shows and swap meets either!

Re: So what do you think is wrong with this truck?

2 trucks are better than one!!!

Just don't try to convince my wife of that! (I've tried)

Also remember 3 trucks are better than 2 and so on.

Re: So what do you think is wrong with this truck?

The way I look at it is,it`s set-up with a great drivetrain and looks decent to drive as is.Can`t beat what you got for the price. The guy made it different/custom without ruining it.I usually don`t like the custom upholstery jobs I see in these trucks. And,this is no exception. But,I could live with it.Guys tend to go overboard with custom stitching, especially with the 2-tone thing.

nice looking truck. good buy IMO.
the only thing I have to criticize on is the placement of the PCM. behind the battery is a bad idea. ever hear of Chrysler Cancer? I would relocate it behind the firewall if possible.

As long as you plan to paint it as said (and change the rims while you're at it)

Sweet rig man. Gratz on the purchase. Would love to see more pics when you get it home.

Question: 3:08 gears with a OD trans, isn't that overly high geared?

No. My '86 came from the factory with the 700R4 and 3.08 gears.

I agree, the interior has got to be my least favorite part of the truck. I tend to look at the things I do like more then the things I dont. I like the bucket seats with the center console. One thing I have never done but have always wanted to is interior. Here my shot.

Couldnt agree more. I am pretty sure I should be able to extend the harness enough to where I can get the pcm inside the cab.

Re: So what do you think is wrong with this truck?

Sand it all down, paint it flat black with some cool flames and really big billet wheels with stock interior and cruise it all summer long while you build yours and I bet you will have a blast with it. Good luck and nice buy.
