HELP!!! Which type of motor mounts??

Ok, re-searched this on the site a bit, but thought I would ask again:

What type? Rubber or Poly?

What year should I use? Specific to a 72? or should I go with the 73 and newer? Pros and cons please...

Oh, I am putting a slightly modified 350 in with more torque than horsepower and nothing too serious! low 300 horsies...

Future plans would include a new 700r4, and I know you are supposed to keep the motor and tranny mounts of the same type, RIGHT?

Thanks one and all!

Bill

Re: HELP!!! Which type of motor mounts??

I would go with the new style as they are easier and cheaper to replace. I would stick with the rubber. Poly might last longer but you will feel more vibration through them. As far as matching engine and trans mounts never heard bad about mixing them. If you are worried about your engine mounts being ripped out from the torque. find a after market chain or strap to tie the engine down to the frame. My sons 283 in his '65 impala had factory tie downs from the exhaust to the frame with a cable.

Re: HELP!!! Which type of motor mounts??

Here is the old style poly made by Prothane, I also run a matching tranny mount. My motor makes 620 plus in torque alone without the N20, they are brand new so we'll see how they hold up.

Re: HELP!!! Which type of motor mounts??

WOW! Nice lookin setup there!

I have the motor balanced, but I still dont want too much vibrations running through the frame and what not... are the 73 and newer ones a direct bolt in? or is there much to change or adapt?

Thanks again all!!!!
