Installing rear coils spring question

Does it matter which way the rear coil springs face? I know for the front there is a little channel that they spring seats into, but for the rear, does it matter which way the springs face? I took both the stock springs off and I forgot to check which way the straight part at the top and bottom faced. Thanks

Here's a pic of the passenger side. You can what direction the spring faces....not sure if it matters as long as the spring retainers fit right.

I usually leave the mounting cups a little loose and spin them around to where it looks like I get the best fit of the spring tail to the lower arm, then set the other side the same way and see how it looks.

The bottom on my '72 C10 burb's coils have the flat/straight part of the spring toward the front. Precisely, in fact. I'm the second owner. Pretty sure the springs were never removed before.

Never thought of the direction of the flat part before until this thread. Thinking about it, I wonder if the flat/straight part has to be forward facing because the trailing arms angle up a little at the spring mount and the flat/straight part will clear or otherwise fit the trailing arm better that way. I need to take a closer look.
