Rear window install

I need to install the rear window into my 67 C-10. I did a search and know about the rope trick but should I start with the top or bottom? Where should the ends of the strings be at the start of the project? Can one guy pull this off? Thanks

I also started with the bottom first. I figured...why fight to try and hold it up...let it rest on the lip and go from there. I mixed some dish soap with water in a spray bottle and kept it wet. Slid in with very little force.

Re: Rear window install

I do mine myself.

Use Goop hand soap for lubricant. Much cheaper than KY and less embarrasing. 99 cents a can at Wal-Mart and you need it around the shop anyway.

One guy can do it himself. Wrap the string around the groove so the ends meet on the bottom and overlap.

Re: Rear window install

Just Did mine yesterday. Started at bottom.
Putting the rubber on the window and using a string was a pain in the a$$ & it almost ruined my seal.
So, I put the rubber in the truck & worked the window into the rubber using a screw driver. Would have been easier if my old man's window tool wasn't at work. My window was a slider.

Re: Rear window install

My daughter held it from the bed of the truck. Started rope from the bottom. I pulled from inside. I used no lube.

WOW...you do it dry? Gotta be careful not to tear the rubber. Try some lube, you will never go back to dry again
