What did you get done?

I worked this weekend so not muc truck stuff done. My 77 is still sitting under the cover and I haven't had a chance to even look at it much less work on it.

I did drop by a local car cruise on Saturday night. One of the local car clubs puts this on and it very well run. There were lots of nice cars and trucks there. I can't wait until I can take my truck out. Look here for lots of pics- Niftee 50ees

Re: What did you get done?

I celebrated! Filled up my truck and checked the mileage today and got 13.9 mpg (around town)! The best I have been able to get prior to this was 11.0. I can only attribute it to a change in driving style (read easier).

Re: What did you get done?

Sat AM, I got up & got my trailer ready for a friend from work. He needed it to pick-up a project car for his son. We had to unload the rolling swb chassis & then load it back up again when he returned the trailer (pain in the arse).

Afterwards, I had to do the family thing & go to my GF's nieces B.D. party. After the party, I did a front end rebuild for my old next door neighbor on a S10 pick-up.

Today was spent scrubbing the 74 & then the Trans Am. In between I checked out a small local show. There was a nice 72 w/a 'big' big-block, MII based front suspension, complete rollcage that was hidden from the exterior view, & Chris Alstons ladder bar set-up w/big meats. Another clean truck was a 71/72 4wd swb. It was one of the cleanest I've ever seen.

I knew I should have brought the camera.....

Re: What did you get done?

I managed to work on Yeller on & off all weekend. Saturday I got my fuel pressure regaular bracket fabricated and mounted and ran most of my fuel lines...but I didn't finish, as I need some more AN fittings to complete the job. Sunday I did some yard work, then did some wiring and wire routing on the truck. The GREAT news is I actually got all the wiring hooked, tested it, and it works!! I saw my Autometer gauges light up for the first time today!! Now all I need to do is finish my fuel system, mount & hook up the tranny shifter, and install the throttle and kickdown...and I am ready to fire the big block up for the first time.

EDIT: I forgot to add, I went to my bodymans shop on Saturday and spent three hours working on the bed of my truck. I initially went over to simply replace the front bed panel with a new one, but ended up tearing the bed completely apart! Lots of work, but it will definately make the paint job that much better. By the way, if anyone needs advice on taking the bed apart, I can give you some helpful pointers...at my own expense!

Re: What did you get done?

i decided to stay home from Showfest this year because I had too much to do.....................But,
My buddy and I ended up going anyway to play roadside rescue to a friend who broke down(fuel pump) on the way there. This poor guy has spent several weeks preparing for the trip and actually got everything finished in time only to have the car(bagged caprice) break down before he got there. Some guys have all the luck.
We probably could have fixed it there, but decided to just load it on the trailer and haul it back home.
So basically i wasted my whole weekend, but I couldnt just leave a brother stranded.

Re: What did you get done?

Check over on the general board! I bought and installed a 350 crate motor after removing the 305. Got it all done around $am this morning! Thanks to some very cool Chevy truck owners and one insanely cool biker from Missouri!

Re: What did you get done?

I worked like usual but I was able to get on the blazer some. I have narrowed down the starting issue to either bad starter bolts or needing shimmed really bad. I picked up some real starter bolts to see if that helps it out.

Since the starter was giving me fits I decided to go with bleeding the brakes. I've driven it before and the brakes needed bled bad. So the GF and I started to get the rear brakes done. Passenger side went good. Moved over to the driver side and nothing happened. I went and checked the reservoir and it was near empty. Bad sign but fixable. I filled it up and went back to bleeding and started to get drips on my arm. The main rear brake T had broke on one side (driver) and the flare fitting wouldn't tighten up enough. No wonder the brakes weren't great.

So I bought some new starter bolts and a brake line tonight. Hopefully tomorrow if all goes well I can get it started and stopped then get inspected and driving for another daily driver.

Re: What did you get done?

Lucky me--my new project doesn't have a working gas gauge right now. On my way to the gas station...I ran out of g-a-s......my husband and I hiked over a mile back to the house and grabbed a gas can. I'm just glad it's almost summer, and we weren't somewhere between Anchorage and Fairbanks (375+ miles north)!!!

Re: What did you get done?

Friday night I went and had wings with the DFW crew.

Saturday I mowed the yard.

Sunday I went to the in-laws and we swam and drove around on Lake Granbury for a couple hours. I'm sun burned and tired.

Re: What did you get done?

Aside from the usual weekend house and yard chores, I got a chance to spray my mountain bike. I was going to blitz it to test the sheen but, I decided to go with the semi-gloss version. Especially, since the John Deere store have the blitz in spray bombs only, no quarts. After I stripped the old paint and hitting it with JD primer sealer, I thought 'bout going with a 'color' finished instead of black. But, I had to stay the course. Actually, I also wanted to see how it would work as chassis paint. I'll have to hit another JD store to see if they have blitz black in quarts/gallons... and find something else to paint. (Nub, I'm not.) Also, started to retrofit my Yakima car rack over to the truck. Hopefully, it'll carry bikes a bit more orderly than the pic below. Talk 'bout load testing...

Jeff - Getting closer...

Army Dude - Good to hear that you're getting it back on the road. Props to all that helped... especially piecesparts.

Re: What did you get done?

I didn't do anything truck related this weekend, but kind of car related, in a way. We went to go see Jimmie Vaughan play at the Wildflower Festival Sunday afternoon. I figure it's car related since he has a pretty good sized collection of rods and kustoms.

Re: What did you get done?

Nothing truck related as usual but I did have to replace the radiator in my (76 malibu 305) everyday beater Saturday. Went from two rows to three, so I'm happy with the upgrade.

Re: What did you get done?

finally got the 82 back together and sat got it aligned so its once again my daily driver.. I also took the tool box out of the bed to save some weight. Just going to pack the essentials to do minor repairs. I would have to get parts to do major repairs so I could pick up my tools too.. saves about 300lbs... If gas gets up too high, I am not against taking off the whole bed... Other than that I worked dang near all day Sat and Sun..

Re: What did you get done?

Saturday: got the new mounts on, chopped the rad support (more than once) pulled the tilt out of the crate, and mocked it up.

Sunday: chopped the rear cross sill for the bed to gastank clearance and put the doors, bed and tilt on. Now comes the fun of actually aligning all this stuff...

Here is the teaser pic, more will be posted in my Pictures/Project thread.

For now.....

I am guessing you are asking me this...
I probably can get you some. It is just an '82 that is getting a new 22R, 5 speed trans, dual t-case, power steering and crossover steering. He should be rebuilding the motor tonight.

Re: What did you get done?

Got the sb out and the bb in. Things went pretty smooth, will post pics when I get them. Went pretty smooth. Some trouble getting the headers bolted on, but other than that just time consuming. Still have starter, radiator to go. Then she is ready to fire up.
