Do you like Back Glass Sliders?

I like the function of the rear slider but think the trucks look way better with a solid piece of glass.

I like mine, nice to be able to open up and get the air flowing once in a while.

I do think a truck looks beter with a solid window too but I love the way the air can circulate with the back glass open.

I like the idea but hate all the rattles and such that accompanies them.

Wouldn't have it any other way. Of course I value function over aesthetics.
I've never heard one rattle before, though. Time for new felts!

I don't mind them either way. I'm going to add one to mine at some point for additional air flow. That or get air conditioning, and that isn't going to happen!

I have one in my 71 and one in my Toy pickup. I dont like the looks of the one in my 71 the Toy is OK.
The only problem I have is the one in my Toyota works great, nice cool air comes in. The one in my 71 stepside works OK at highway speeds, but at 15-20 mph hot air from the engine comes in!!?! Has anyone else noticed this? I have thought of putting a piece of sheet metal between the cab and the bed to see if that helps. When I redo the cab I may put a standard window in??

I don't really like the look of them on our trucks, but if mine were a daily driver, I wouldn't mind that air circulation! I have one on my 01 Dodge QC pickup, and like the air, but don't use it because it's a pain to open and close on a extra cab truck. I also don't like them for the ease of breaking into the truck with just a butterknife or screwdriver!

Rod
Mine does the same thing but at all speeds. Love the rear slider and the looks but cant use it because of the heat issue. Im addressing it. Just got a different slider from 71Stepside and may try something like you mentioned. Im thinking a flap under the cab will deflect the air enough to correct this. My Supertraps dump about 18 inches behind the cab too, so that doesnt help.

I'm in agreement with most of you,, I don't like the looks of it either, I installed one in mine about 8 years ago. It's been nice for off road, but now that I lowered it It's coming out. I think it makes the window area look "choppy" not smooth. And I know what you mean about the rattles,
PROST. I like the subwoofer thing though. I've two of them, Boxed 10" ROCKFORD FOSGATE's, going where the gas tank WAS. RON |

I would agree with most everyone else in that the looks are better with a solid window. However, I am planning on putting in a slider in the near future just for the air flow.

Could'nt you make a rear window that opens like a mini-van side window.

I bought mine "years" ago at pep boys for 69.00 I think. It was a L.W. Lawrence or something like that.
I've got one truck with solid glass and one with a slider... In the spring/summer/fall I wouldnt do without a slider. It provides great airflow but doesnt make you feel like your in a wind tunnel. It equalizes the air instead of forcing it into the vent windows. Hard to explain really. The main reason is that I like to hear the exhaust LOL. Dumps under the bed sound excellent with the slider open |

I guess I'm alone on saying that I like the way my truck looks with one! I just put it in, and I really like it!

BTW, it's a factory slider out of a 71/72 I think.

The thing I dont like about mine, is its a 4 window and when closed it makes it uncomfortable to look in the rear view. Your always trying to look around the metal frame which is 2 inches wide and dead center went closed.
Next time I plan on getting a power slider (3 window) |
