Weird Vibration
I took the truck for a drive today and I noticed when I was at a red light on the way back that I had a vibration coming from the steering wheel while I was stopped. I reved it up a little and it went away. With the truck in gear and brake on the idle is about 550. Not it gear its 750. Truck is a 68 with a 350, qjet carb and 400 turbo tranny. Any thoughts on what this could be?
Thanks

Re: Weird Vibration
Got power steering? Check your PS fluid level. Usually hear it more on corners, but I've heard it at idle too.

Re: Weird Vibration
check all the belts, pulleys, and balancer, make sure everything is good and tight.I have seen this happen with a sheared woodruff key in the balancer.

Re: Weird Vibration
do you have headers. A header tube may be vibrating against the frame at idle. That happened to me, and felt it thru the column.....

Re: Weird Vibration
Does it run smooth at idle? We get ppl dropping off vehicles at work with a miss, and at least once a month it is described as front end problems becouse they feel it through the steering wheel.

Re: Weird Vibration
Well it looked like it just needed some carb adjustment. I put the vac guage on it last night and at idle was getting about 16-17. I richened up the carb 1/2 turn adn up she went to 19. Vibration gone.
