fenderwell paint/coating

Okay here is the deal,,, i have a TOTALLY rust free 83' sierra. It has rust free fenderwells also. However the paint is really thin in places. My question is,,,,what is the best coating/paint for the fenderwells to be tough against salt,,,rocks,, and possible future rust. I am wanting a satin black color for an original look. I was thinking por15???? or powdercoating???? any other suggestions ????? I want to do something with them before i "lose them to cancer" P.S. I am also looking for something that will clean up easy/nicely with soap and water and a few swipes with a sponge. THANKS. Matt

i'm using por-15 hard nose, real tuff paint...

I've tried most everything (POR, rubberized undercoating, etc), and nothing has seemed to stay without chipping. So, now I just spray them with flat black every once in a while to keep them looking good...same goes for the frame.

Powder coating will chip from flying road debris. If you really want to protect them have the Rhino Lined. There are a number of fender well paints that will protect them. Consider anything with the POR 15 label as a good poroduct...

Take the truck to a bed liner place and have them spray the wheelwells after you clean them up. You cant chip that stuff nor can you remove it without griding all day.
