charging problems
I need electrical help,a 72 c10 350.I cannot find the reason that my alternator work work it bench tests at 15.5 amps and has a new voltage regulator new battery and cables,I have checked the wires to the regulator and the firewall and all seem to have good continuity any suggestions would be a great help.

first we "bench" tested the alternator at Auto Zone and then i had it tested at an auto shop.For output and the charging system.The alternator is ok on the bench but in the rtruck there is nothing i just replaced the groundong straps and am now really at a loss.Any ideas?

Does it have 14.2 volts at the battery when running? If not the regulator is bad or needs adjusted. Take the cover off and turn the phillips head screw until you get 14.2 volts. Also the new voltage regulators suck. You cant adjust them and i had one go bad in 2 days. I converted all my trucks to internal regulator alternators. Hope this helps

Don't you just love when things test okay on the bench, but not in the truck? More than likely it's your regulator like oldchev4x4 said, and I don't know if this would apply to a chevy style alternator, but I had similar problems with some mopar alternators where they would test fine out, but not in. Turned out that when I would tighten the mounting bolt, it would flex the case slightly causing it not to work.
Just my nickel's worth...
