Too many crossmembers?

I have a 67 c10 2wd that was oringinally a manual three on the tree. Years ago I had a auto trans installed with a b and m shifter. I recently have been trying to install a auto van tilt column. Well the column is in and I am trying to install auto shift linkage and if I am doing it right it seems that the front crossmember is in the way. Am I correct in this or am I doing it wrong. Can somebody please post some pics of their shift linkage at the frame to trans. Thank you very much.

Re: Too many crossmembers?

Not sure but maybe the mechanics for the clutch linkage, (z-bar) was left in because they were using the B & M shifter and didn't need to worry about it being in the way of the linkage from the column. Just a guess on my part.. But the only thing that I can envision as getting in the way of the linkage.
By the way "Go Chargers"

Re: Too many crossmembers?

Sounds to me like you didn't remove the 3 speed crossmember. It is right below the firewall. I just changed my 3 sp. to a 700r4. 3 sp. crossmember has to be cut out and an "Auto" crossmember has to be put in. Linkage should not be a problem when this is done.
