Rear end gearing.

just wanted to check and see if anyone could tell me how to find out the gear ratio in my rear end. thanks.

If it is a coil rear end check for axle numbers in red circle area (may take some cleaning with wire brush to see. Post them and we can tell ya what they are

or you might as well pull the diff plate off and change the oil cuz im sure it could use it and if you look on the outer edge of the ring gear youll see the some numbers and youll see the teeth numbers for example mine is 14:43 and you divide 43 by 14 = 3.07 but thats my truck urs might be different but anyway i hope that helps

grease monkey has you in the right direction. The numbers on the outside will only tell you what was there 35 years ago. (odds are they still are, but the oil needs chainged anyways)
