Smile Post your fuel filler pics

I am in the process of installing a blazer tank in my '70 C-10 stepside. I would like you to post your fuel filler pics. I have seen the side marker light filler here that looks nice.

Re: Post your fuel filler pics

i redesigned mine many times. the last one i thought was perfect until i connected the hose from the filler to the tank then it wouldn't flow into the tank because it had to fight gravity. i ended up putting it in the wheelwell so it's a straight downhill shot at the tank. the filler is from a 77 chevy truck.

the 1st 2 pics are from the 77 i took the filler from, i took the bedside and was going to use the door function and put it on the rear of the drivers inner bedside. i had a clearance issue with the sidemarker light, 1/16th of an inch, and i didn't want to shave the sidemarkers so i scrapped that idea.

later i did shave the sidemarkers so i should of kept that idea

then i decided to keep the filler where it was cuz i already had a hole in my inner bedside and made a box for it to sit within. (pic 3)

i cut that up in the rough stages, then i made and angled piece in the bed.. i liked that one but didnt work

Re: Post your fuel filler pics

Its a marine gas filler. Go to any boat store and they can get it for you. Costs around $50. The rectangle part is what you push and it pops up, then you can unscrew it.....

Re: Post your fuel filler pics

You can also buy a pop-up gas tank cap that mounts flush and can be painted body color. I have only seen it for motorcycles and custom bikes. try biker shops for one. There are awesome

Me too, that's really nice! Mounting it that way, I wouldn't have to cut up my floor or mount the filler in my fender... Also, to everyone else, will a Blazer tank be just as good as one of these $500+ alloy tanks, for someone like me not trying to make a show truck? I just can't see spending $500+ on an alloy tank, when I can spend $200 or so and get a Blazer tank...

Re: Post your fuel filler pics

Have any of you guys used radiator hose to connect your filler to your tank or have you purchased hose specifically for gasoline?
I had an autozone guy say that radiator hose would stand up to gas and work for this application as long as the curve is not to severe?

Re: Post your fuel filler pics

Leftear, on a shortbed truck when using the blazer tank you will have to trim the most rear crossmember on the bed itself to let the filler spout on the tank clear the frame and bottom of the bed.with the one from fuelcell guy on here you do not have to trim or modify anything, other than providing a filler location.

Spend the $ and buy the fuel line that is made for the job. It's not exactly cheap but you will get what you pay for. Oh and we always know how the Autozone guys have good intentions!
