Re: PO has me PO'd

Jim, I have a few 'parts' columns if you need some small pieces or wiring.

Would this be a good time to tell ya about the factory 4spd tilt column I have squirrled away...?

NO!. but I was aware of your 4 speed tilt

It could be fixed with a piece of shrink tubing, very small nick, but I can't figure a way of getting the tubing over the wire. I wonder if the 1/2 circle electrical plug comes apart, sorta like the bulkhead fitting does for the main engine/headlight harness

I could use a race for one of the bearings

Thanks 67chevy for the acknowledgments

Re: PO has me PO'd

The wires come out of the 1/2 circle plug. If you look inside closely with a flashlight you can see the two retension pins/tangs that you have to push in to remove them. If you can't figure it out post or PM me and I'll find the connector I have and I'll post a pic. I used a small pocket knife to push the tangs in.

Well, yes except the steering stabilizer, exhaust manifold and my Dad's 1950's drill that came from JC Penny's. Or are mocking me for the condition of my workbench/storage unit

Re: PO has me PO'd

Here is a pic of that plug with 1 wire out, the size of the knife I use to push in the tabs that are visible in the picture. The second picture is just the wire showing the tabs a little clearer. I bent them out a little for clarity.

Hope this helps

Re: PO has me PO'd

Thanks for taking the time, so if I understand this right, the tang that has to be pushed down is on the top side of the connecter

Re: PO has me PO'd

No there is one tang/tab on each side of the metal connector. First push the tab on one side and then push the tab on the other side. It may take a couple of tries.

Re: PO has me PO'd

he said "tang"...

I used JB weld to patch the shifter nub on my rebuild... I don't remember having to pull the harness apart like that but I used a van tilt so it might have been a flat adapter...

are you going to paint or PC the column once done? JB weld holds up to the PC oven if you are.

I've got some stuff called 'Lab Metal', neat stuff, you can machine it once it sets up. I'm still not sure on the paint/PC. I have to fill in the shift indicator lamp hole, dunno how I'm going to fill that yet

The harness has a pinch in it down to the bare wire. Thing is, I have a red four way flasher knob, and I don't think it is right for my truck. My auto. coulumn has a black push/pull thingy and I like it better, so I may be using that if it fits into my tilt

Yeah well, I don't think you have to pull the harness apart either, but it was a steep learning curve

Confused #629?

Probably not! 20 years of fishing up there and I only kept one that is hanging on the wall Of course, if I land a state record, there are very loose interpretation of the rules

Plus the fact that Jonathon gave me a Sage flyrod for Christmas and I have NEVER thrown a fly rod before. But, as you know it's all about hanging out with my sons and nephews

I'll pass it on to the boys, Kurt.! We have a new member to the snowmobiling/fishing trip. He works at Quadratec, so we have to be nice to him

Thanks LKSDCVN

Sounds like a great week. Looks pretty out there. Must not have been too cold, looks like the snow's WET!

As a former employee of Dick's Sporting goods, my best advice is to go to Cabella's, or Bass Pro Shops, or Sierra Trading Post, or, or, or...

Typical Father Son biannual fishing, just great to be able to fit time into all of my sons busy lives, but I think they get the purpose of these trips. It's all about quality time!

Cold? just a matter of opinion...if I could have felt my toes, it would've been my enjoyable. And yes the river water was wet

Maybe not Dick's fault, bought a bottom of the line wader made in China, lessen learned

Also my Northface shell failed, so I was wet 2 layers down
Thanks for checkin' in Tynee

I love most of the styling on the new Camaros, but that dashboard makes babies cry. Very nice ride in every other regard.
