Rear Rollpan on A Blazer-How hard to install

I haven't seen too many rear rollpans on the 73-91 Blazers before and was wondering why this was. I dont see why you couldnt install a Truck fleetside rear rollpan on the Blazers? I dont really like the ones that dont have the license plate mounting panel made into the pan too much.

Has anyone installed a rear metal rollpan on a Blazer before or have a picture of one other than the one on Sir Michaels Website as shown below:

Here is a picture of my '81. Unfortuneatly it is a little wrinkled from a trailer loading mis-hap.
You have to cut down the frame rails a bunch.
My other issue is that the gas tank looks pretty exposed. Can't get the image of a Ford Pinto exploding from a rear-ender out of my mind.

I didn't install this, it was on there when I bought it.

Yeah the gas tank sure is an eye-sore for me too. Anybody else have any pics or experience with this model and rollpans.

I am not woried about how it looks so much as how easily it could get damaged if hit from the rear???

Yeah I have been thinking about that too. But as far as I can tell, I hope that the automakers have learned a lesson from the Pinto incidents that happened before my time.

Since I plan to do a lot of work to my Blazer, I don't intend on driving it much so I may go with a rollpan anyways. Also the guy I bought it from cut the frame horns back some anyways to install this ugly non-Blazerish rear bumper on the back.
