lt-1 intake swap ??
Hello I am pretty new on this forum. Lots of good information on here.
I have a 70 c10 pickup and am getting a plan ready to restore the truck. I have a first gen 383 with double hump heads on it. My question is will the intake from an lt-1 bolt on to this block and function properly, Heads and fuel injection? or will the fuel injection manifold bolt onto the double hump heads and function properly? any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Re: lt-1 intake swap ??
the manifold will not bolt directly to the 383 the angle on the intake bolts are not the same as the original motor...

Re: lt-1 intake swap ??
besides you'd make more power with an intake and carb then the lt1 fuel injection setup and by the time the headache was over with wiring it you'd have some major computer issues as i doubt it would run properly, just for a bit of info i had an lt1 in an s10 it made MORE power with a carb and intake then stock lt1 injection

The LT1 manifold will not bolt on to Gen I heads. It's also not a great manifold for heavy vehicles running primarily at low RPM. |

Re: lt-1 intake swap ??
An LT-1 manifold can be modified to fit early heads. Not all that hard to modify the bolt holes, then you will have to cut a hole to mount the distributor. Or for around $200 you can have this guy modify it for you:
http://www.lt1intake.com/services.htm I would use a TPI computer and a small TPI distributor along with a modified TPI or aftermarket wiring harness.

IMHO there are better aftermarket choices if you want fuel injection. ALL of these will require significant upgrades to the fuel system - larger fuel lines (different pickup points and welded bungs), fuel pumps, etc. Make sure you've got the budget to do the whole smash |

Re: lt-1 intake swap ??
i wouldn't use a gen 2 lt1 for nothing not with the efi setup, like billa said there are much more better setups out there if you want efi

I would use a 86 to I think 92 Tuned Port EFI, and you can get them with the computer and the wiring harness cheap and they will fit on your motor.
