Work on my engine
I did some work on my engine today. The enine builder didn't do a good job sealing stuff up, but I guess he knew I would replace the parts. I put an edelbrocker performer intake on it, as well as my fuel pump and other random things. I still need to order a bunch of new parts, hopefully sometime this week. I don't know whether to buy chrome accesories or stock looking ones, I love shiny things but they cost more money =(. I will order most of my frontal accessories tomorrow, those I can't get cheaper through napa. Then I will connect my transmission to the engine (paint it first), and finally drop it in the truck. At that point there will still be a lot to do: rear end, brakes, plumping, cooling stuff, etc. Theres just so much I have to do that i NEVER took into account, at least not until it started breakin the bank

I think I still have one (all done) in a box somewhere in the garage. I bought it to teach my boys how engines work when they were young, great model. they do all there own work now.

Re: Work on my engine
i'm guessing its a 350? with the 305 heads you will have higher compression. so they wont rob any hp.

Re: Work on my engine
the big problem with most of the chrome stuff on a basic daily driver type vehicle is that it's not real good chrome to start with and it goes down hill real fast// stuff to really avoid is valve covers thermo housings and timing covers because the cheaper ones rarely seal well // aluminium accessoriers tend to be heavier made and 20-30 year old stuff can always be brought back to life these valve covers are about 40years old
i always see the visable V8 models at toy shows and auto swapmeets

Re: Work on my engine
My Dad got me the visible V-8 model when I was a kid (for Christmas I think), he helped me put it together, was a lot of fun as I remember. I don't know if they still make them, I haven't seen one here in Canada anyway in ages.
