Re: Still Working!!!

I still see them on a regular basis from C10 landscaping trucks to C-60 / C-80 firetrucks, dump trucks, water trucks, flatbed haulers & cab over tractors. All in service and all running good.

I think that's why we kind of get snubbed at a lot of the big car shows, for not really being "classic" or "vintage" like the tri-fives and earlier. Even though our trucks have all turned 40 within the last 6 years, they're still a whole lot of them in service. Heck - you can still find them in modern high volume/ quick turnover pic-n-pull junk yards.

I really dont see too many anymore, much less working! The salvage yards around here does'nt have much to pick from either.

I think you hit the nail on the head. I still see many trucks going about their business as regular work trucks. I totally agree with your theory as to not being recognized as classics.

Re: Still Working!!!

I pulled in to the local land fill about a month ago with a big load of tree lims. I was hauling them in my 66c10. Belive it or not the truck that puled in behind me was a 67c20 it to was loaded with trees as well. When we looked around it was plane to see those two old trucks had the biggest loads of the PUs there. I wish I would of had a camra there. My truck has to earn its right to leave grease spots in my drive. It also has to pull trailer duty

Re: Still Working!!!

I used mine this weekend for hauling landscaping rock, garden soil, mulch, etc. I would love to restore it , but then I couldnt see a guy with a front end loader dumping a load of rock in the back of it!!

Re: Still Working!!!

62.. restore it?? That's a nice and cool looking truck..

I see a lot of them around and a lot of them being used as work trucks. There are 3, including mine, within two blocks of my house..

The guy who had my '64 before me, used it to haul stuff to the dump. He did construction clean up..

I just can't wait to start driving mine everyday.. Altenater, wiper blades, head lights, a quick paint job and here I come.. Oh Yeah, a radio too. ..
