My 84 C/10 Progress Thread
For those that missed my introduction thread in the welcome area here's some pics/vid of my truck.
Copied from first thread: I have 1984 C10 pickup that's being prostreet'ed right now. And here's the short version on how I got it. It was my Dad's truck that he bought brand new in 84 off the lot and has been his work truck ever since. It actually was the first truck I drove when I got my license at 15 (I'm 29 now). Well my Dad passed away of a sudden heart attack a while back. He was 51. He and I use to always talk hot rods and he'd come to my shows when I use to show trucks. He used to have a couple of 69 Camaros back in the day so needless to say he was big into hot rods and cars/trucks of that era. Well... my Mom ended up giving me his truck so it wouldn't just sit up and rot away. I took it gladly and told myself I would build a hot rod out of it in memory of him and have a dedication airbrushed on the back of it. At least I know I'll have it for the rest of my life and some day it will be my son's. ::UPDATED:: 2/24/08 post #121 New video of 1st and 2nd gear run (1/8 mile) ::UPDATED:: 6/2/07 New video on page 3 post #53 Before After The way it sits now Future Possibility Last edited by SulphurDave; 07-27-2008 at 11:28 PM. |

Re: My 84 C/10 Progress Thread
Thanks for the compliments guys. Here's another p/s I did and in this pic you can see that the orange stripe is a shade shifter to like a lime green color. It's hard to tell but at the right angle the stripe turns bright green. The story behind the paint job is the top half is the original color wich represents the way it was when my Dad bought it and the bottom half is mine.

Re: My 84 C/10 Progress Thread
ahaha that looks wicked. i like those rims better, too many people go with cragers or welds, looks a lil lower too which is always good! make it a reality!

Re: My 84 C/10 Progress Thread
yea i definitley like being different so ill probably be looking into wheels like that not to mention i dont think weld makes those wheels for my truck in 5 lug anymore from what i heard. i just know i want 16.5" - 18" wide deep dish wheels in the back on drag radials and narrow in the front. i'll have from the outside of the frame to the inside of the fender to play with offset since i'm going 4 link / coilover setup over a ford 9" rear end. i have the rear end sitting waiting i just need to get the rear fenders tubbed. once i have the rear end under there i can do my measurements.

Re: My 84 C/10 Progress Thread
Looks awesome! Have you considered the Pro Touring look? That would look killer with 20"x12 wheels on back....

Re: My 84 C/10 Progress Thread
I've considered it but I think I want more of an old school set up. I do like the look though of some 20" wheels with a real deep offset but it'd have to be wider than 12" more like 16" or so.

Re: My 84 C/10 Progress Thread
Just a thought. I love the look of a hotrod no matter what style choosen. I prefer the recent trend of pro-touring because of the design being toward full function in all aspect, not just straight line performance. It hard to carve corners with 31.50 MT out back. ....

Re: My 84 C/10 Progress Thread
Your paint scheme looks really cool... especially how it follows the curved body line at the begining of the front fenders.

Re: My 84 C/10 Progress Thread
Those aren't bad at all. I've even thought about putting an exhaust on the truck, getting a set of wheels/tires for the street and buying another set of wheels/slicks for the back come track time. Wouldn't be a bad idea just cost more $$$ It'll see more track than street though that's the thing. I just don't wanna lose that awesome sound coming from them long tubes!! And of course I wanna hook up at the track.

Re: My 84 C/10 Progress Thread
I was thinking something like this for the street. I've always liked this wheel/tire setup ever since I watched them build it on OverHaulin.
And something like this for everything else |

Re: My 84 C/10 Progress Thread
It's going back in the paint booth to have some things touched up, I had my dash fiberglassed so it'll be painted as well, plus some more engine bay stuff painted and I'm also getting the orange stripe changed to a shade of root beer metallic with cinnamon pearl in the clear. Soon I'll be ordering drop spindles etc. to lower it but not sure how low I wanna go because I'm still undecided on wheels/tires.

Re: My 84 C/10 Progress Thread
Truck looks awesome . I like all wheels pictured but the twisted billet aluminum wheels have a nice look to them . Did you use the wheel/tire setup off of the red stepside that was on ebay several months ago ? If so they looked perfect on that truck and I am sure they would look as good or better on your truck . The red truck looked better with the larger wheels than the pics they showed of it with the 15 inch wheels . Of course this is just my opinion and your idea about two sets of wheels would allow you to have the best of both worlds . Frank

Wow, looks great!
I love that paint. Normally I'm not a custom paint guy, especially with what people do on trucks, but that looks classy and works with the lines! Oh, and what are you doing with your hubcaps?

Yes I did get those twisted wheels off a red step side but not off of ebay. I had that pic a long time ago from sportruck.com

Re: My 84 C/10 Progress Thread
I'll probably hang those hub caps in my garage to look at since they came on the truck and were my Dad's.

Here's a sample of the color stripe I wanna go with. It'll be a shade of root beer metallic with cinnamon pearl in the clear:
