new truck / column shift

finally got my truck and the shifter on the floor is killing me i cant seam to get it into the gear i want when i want and then i never know when i am in a gear or in neutral. the truck was originally 3 on the tree and i want to put it back there so i started looking at my steering column and found what the transmission levers used to be connected to and i realize that inside the column there apears to be some broken rods for the shifter (guessing thats why its on the floor now) can this be repaired or do i need to replace the entire column and where can i buy the parts i need to get this working propely.

here are some pics of the truck just for your entertainment pleasure
