Advantages of replacing throttle body?

My best bud came home from the Army today

Anyway, after shooting the **** for a little while, he insisted I jump in his Blazer and go for a spin. Long story short, it suddenly has balls and big ones at that. The motor has really woken up. He says his old man put a new throttle body on along with a spacer. The injectors are fairly new as well, they were replaced in June I believe.

Would replacing a throttle body really make that much of a difference?

I was just wondering, because I know his old man is a trickster. He'll tell you he did one thing, just to cover up what he really did.

Re: Advantages of replacing throttle body?

LOL, thats great. I know it will help but I don't know about getting major balls from doing a new throttle body and a spacer, should definantly pick up the pace but it might also have really needed a new throttle body in the first place so doing it might have helped more then it usually would.

Re: Advantages of replacing throttle body?

Well by major balls I mean running like a fresh V8 should. It was a dog before, and mine still is.

Re: Advantages of replacing throttle body?

did he replaced it with a rochestor or a holley ? i bought a holley replacement 670 cfm a couple years ago for my ' 89 silverado with a 350 .i cut out the intake manifold bores and added a helix spiral spacer and it woke it up .yet i modify the bracket for the cables to raise them up an inch and get fuel line extensions ,but it was all worth it. like its a totaly different motor. i also bought a air intake kit i use in the warmer months and then the stocker with a jegs air tube in the winter. the holley's have also a different regulator and injectors over stock .i believe, correct me if i'm wrong , the stock body is rated 390 with 1 5/8 " bores . where the holley ones have big 2 " bores same as the stock 454's . just after that i bought a 3" cat back exhaust kit( where i have three inch pipe where the cat should be ) , it works out real nice . by the way , i have an accel coil and ignition module
