Drive mine every day too. You can't beat cruisin around in an old chevy truck. Gas is a killer but it's all worth it.

My 71 shortbed stepside is my daily commuter vehicle...

except in summer when I drive an old convertable to work.

Has been that way for the ten years that I have had the truck.

Re: Who drives there truck every day?

my truck is my only vehicle.
You drive a new car, you lose your identity. You just blend in... become a nobody.
It'll take a LOT of gas and repairs to cost more than a new car + full coverage ins.

Re: Who drives there truck every day?

My truck is my only set of wheels. (My wifes Yota is HERS) I drive it to work (when I work), tow my 6000 pound travel trailer to the woods and go in the woods hunting with it. Plus I haul whatever needs to be hauled for family and friends. Every where I go people are talking about my truck, honking the horn and giving me the thumbs up, wanting to buy it, and just generally smiling and enjoying the old truck. After all that, gas is very cheap! My Son swears it gets more attention than my 64 Vette! I've had a lot of vehicles in my day but I get more pleasure out of this one than any I've ever had!

Re: Who drives there truck every day?

when my 67 is done i'll be driving it everyday except in the winter because of all the salt the use around here and it's a short bed two wheel drive which wouldn't be much fun with the hills and back roads around here

Re: Who drives there truck every day?

Until I came to school I drove mine everyday, granted I didn't log as many miles as most folks do but it got me back and forth to school and work everyday and then wherever I went to on the weekends.

Re: Who drives there truck every day?

I drive my 72 K10 every day. I have no payment and the insurance is cheap.

Yeah that gas is about $30 a week...but no biggy. Will be cheaper now since I just installed an HEI dizzy last evening. So all is will cost me is insurance and gas.

Of course I am restoring mine while I drive it so I buy parts too. But if I had to I would not have to buy parts. But i have to...it is an obsession.

Re: Who drives there truck every day?

I drive mine every day and fill it up once a week. I'm always hauling stuff in it and pull a 24ft. trailer every once in awhile. I can get away with two weeks if I don't keep that Quadrajet chugging gas with all four barrels open. I just got a full dual exhaust put on it today. When it had a single exhaust I got 12-13MPG on a 200 mile round trip, it should get maybe 14 at the most now.

Re: Who drives there truck every day?

I use my truck for work everyday. I pull a trailer for work sometimes also. My old truck is starting to rust in the corners and box wheel wells pretty bad now. I keep building other 68-72 trucks to replace it with but by the time I am done with them I hate to think of all the salt and wear and tear on one I have just put back together. So I just keep driving the old yellow truck. She uses some oil and the wind really circles up from behind the seat from the holes in the rear floor but she never fails me . Maybe this next truck I am working on will finally replace old yellow-----------------or maybe not

Re: Who drives there truck every day?

I used to drive mine everyday for about a year. Then one day I got the crazy idea to tear it apart and do it all over! This is how it looked when I bought it.

Re: Who drives there truck every day?

I've been driving my '72 every day since June to get across town to the bus stop. I put about 20$ in fuel every 2 weeks, and couldn't even think about replacing this truck with anything else.

I just hope I can make enough money some day to do all the things I've been dreaming of doing to it

I drive mine to work everyday, and will drive 70 miles round trip to school three days a week. The gas costs a little, but she's worth it.
