Fuel Filter Question

Hey guys, I sorta have a fuel problem. There is junk in the tank, we're sure it's rust. I have a filter between the pump and the carb, which seems to completely clear up the junk. Now for the question, can I put a fuel filter between the tank and the pump so the junk can't get to the fuel pump? Thanks, Justin

Re: Fuel Filter Question

I agree. I run 2 filters. The in carb one for fine stuff and one under the cab. I use metal and plastic. Depending on whats in my inventory at the time.

Welcome to the board bad72c10, glad your here.

Re: Fuel Filter Question

I've always been told that running a filter before the pump on trucks with with the pumps on the block is bad i dont know why but i'd say go for it

Re: Fuel Filter Question

It's not detremental, but I don't recomend it.
By causing a restriction before the fuel pump, you are reduceing the pressure, and as the pressure goes down, so does the boiling point. Anyone who has even had vapor lock problems can appreciate NOT lowering the pressure and in hand, the poiling point.
