Life advice

I love my truck.....and I love my girlfriend.
But in all fairness Ive had my truck longer.

Ok, heres the background...

She lost her job - she had to move back in with her parents - now she lives on a dirt road - she dont have money for gas...

Now, I DO NOT drive my truck down dirt roads....its the only nice thing I own so I try to take care of it and keep it clean. And I must say for it being a daily I do a damn good job. But one day I was obligated to take her home after one of her friends abandoned her here. So I took her home and literally idled down about 2 miles of dusty, washboardy, dirt road.

Its our 6 month anniversary today and she calls me at work wanting to know if I could come pic her up....its a special occasion so I aggreed(this was around noon or so) but when it came up on 6 and time to leave....its raining like a monsoon. So I called her and told her Im NOT gonna drive my truck down a muddy effin dirt road to come get her.

Now shes all mad and says "You obviously love your truck more then me" then she just hung up.

What should I do?

Re: Life advice

She has the right to be mad. She just doesn't understand. You need to decide between her and getting another vehicle to drive to her house. In the mean time, GO GET HER.

Re: Life advice

If you realy care about her, go pick her up and wash your truck tomarow. If you dont you can kiss your relationship good by....Now if you dont care than still pick her up you might get some. whats the alternitive, siting at home staring at your clean truck.. why not keep her car at your house, so when you need to pick her up you could use her car. Or give her a few bucks for gas you cheep b@#!%$#..

Re: Life advice

if a woman doesnt understand this then do you really want to put up with the inevitable nagging about it? Many years ago i had a prize SHO that i loved and it was all i had, then i got a woman, she used to make the same claim, "you love that car more than me" One day she wrecked my car, and she was right... i left her.

Its not your fault or problem that she doesnt have enough money for gas, my best advice is find a woman that does or you'll eventually have to provide for her and it never ends or will be quite enough.

Re: Life advice

on one hand any woman that doesn't understand the relationship between a guy and his truck needs to go away,,,,

but on the other hand you'll be a lonely old coot if you continue to put your truck before your woman. granted a lonely old coot with a clean truck but still lonely.

quit being a cheap a** and spring a few bucks for gas in her car. ya never know she may go find a job with some of that gas.

Re: Life advice

Drop here like a rock, find a girl on a paved road, with a career not a job.
Preferably, college educated who can pay her own way and both your and her way 50% of the time. Elsewise, you will be paying out for everything as long as you are with her.

Re: Life advice

If you can afford gas for your BB Truck then you can afford to put a little $ in her tank.

Dude it's a truck - they are made to get dirty - have a little fun (unless it is draggin on every bump cause it is too low). I know you take great pride in it and want to keep it nice..but as said before if you really care about her - the hose will work in the morning.

Beside - you can't take it with you - well I guess you could bury it with you (I know you're young...I am too, but you never know)

6 MONTH anniversary???

Good luck, she sounds psycho, but you sound just as bad because you won't drive on her driveway. Might as well just get married

Re: Life advice

dude are you serious? Mud washes off, Take it slow and easy. Ive had really nice trucks too but if the girl i love lives at the end of hell, well i would go get her.
If you want you and her to last then go tell her your sorry and just wash the damn truck. Just talk to her and tell her hey i worked hard to get this truck looking good. Long nites and working lots of hours. I dont want all my hard work to get chipped and scratched. Talk to her so she understands dont just jump her ass and say i dont want my truck trashed. Drive slow and easy. Or make it easy and have her move in with you. There problem solved.

Re: Life advice

I love my truck. It stays in my garage and never sees rain. If my wife needed me to drive it thru 10 miles of crap, I would do it in a heartbeat. I would then spend a week cleaning it if need be. If you would not do that for your girl, then you need to find someone else.

Re: Life advice

So what did you & your truck decide to do about this?

If its that serious, buy an old cheaper vehicle & drive that. If you sell your truck & then get into a fight with her (it does happen & will), you will be soooooooooo PISSED!

Re: Life advice

You're only 21, you dont need a full time girlfriend...but if you really feel you need one, you need to find one that enjoys a lot of the same things you do. Or at least understands there are things you like that she isnt going to. When your relationship is young things like this are easily glossed over, kiss kiss, make up sex, etc etc. But as the years go by and you are still getting *****ed at about your truck or whatever it is that turns your crank hobby, you are going to wonder why the heck you didnt toss out a measly 6 month relationship. Lots of ladies out there in this world....Also, I would give the same advice to the female if the situation was reversed.
