Bought another one - 1972 C20 parts truck !!

Heres a few pics of the 72 C20 Custom Camper we just picked up the other day. Has factory rear slider(needs weather strip), throttle control dash, 4 core radiator. I think engine is shot, has a complete Q-jet, might have decent rebuildable tranny. Power steering, and some other little pieces we can use. Can't save em all, but atleast some parts aren't going to the crusher !!!

Nice find. Can I ask you for a picture of how the dual horns are mounted? I have a similar rig and since it has been apart for sooo long, I have forgotten where they go. - bummer - anyway, if you could send me a pic of the horns I would greatly appreciate it.

interesting, I was always told that the A/C vents would be the same color as the steering wheel.

Re: Bought another one - 1972 C20 parts truck !!!

Green Machine,

Super cool truck. Very loaded out. Haven't seen too many yellow/white trucks.

What is the manual throttle used for?

Longhorn Man,

What decides the color of the steering wheel and column being black or the matching interior color?

Re: Bought another one - 1972 C20 parts truck !!!

I am just guessing, but maybe the manual throttle was use to keep the battery charged, AC or heater running for the Camper ? Good question, don't know for sure.

And that truck confirmed for me about tailgate letters and white stripes. It has the white stripe and upper and lower chrome on the tailgate, no wood grain panel, and the tailgate letters are painted YELLOW like the rest of the truck, not too often have I seen that but now I know for sure.

Re: Bought another one - 1972 C20 parts truck !!!

Doors say '72 but that option sheet has different numbers than I ever saw on a '72.
My steering wheel color matched the dash pad. My AC vents match body color. Visor matched the door panels and seat belts.

Re: Bought another one - 1972 C20 parts truck !!!

I have nearly the same truck except mine's a Cheyenne Super. Same outside colors, but inside is yellow and green. Non-tilt steering with green column and green steering wheel with yellow A/C vents. Green seat, visors, door panels, headliner, carpet and dash pad.

Re: Bought another one - 1972 C20 parts truck !!!

My 72 Super has a black tilt column and wheel with green vents.

Most of the manual throttles that I have seen where on big trucks with a PTO.

Re: Bought another one - 1972 C20 parts truck !!!

it's impossible to figure out how/why they did the interior color combos. my 72 super is dark olive/white. headliner and visors are white, seat was white vynil with black/white houndstooth inserts, carpet and seatbelts are black as was the steering column (non tilt) a-c vents are dark olive, now the strange one--the glovebox door is black and it is the oem cheyenne super door-still has the option list on it and the vin matches the door. i also have the glovebox door off an original yellow/white cheyenne super that had blue interior--that had to be one ugly combo.

Re: Bought another one - 1972 C20 parts truck !!!

My dad's 72 had a throttle, used it to feed cows with. Put the truck in low range, pull the throttle out a couple of clicks and let it idle along as we threw out the bales. A lot of trucks in cattle country came that way.
