radio delete plate question

why does alot of guys want the radio deliete plates. i know there original use but do guys do something special with them ?

They use them to cover up orginal radio holes in the dash and they install new radios elsewhere like in the glovebox

I once cut holes into one to make a cassette deck face plate. Looked pretty good.
