Question Which "Quiet" Mufflers

Okay, I know not another "What Mufflers Should I Use" thread, but what I'm looking for is a quiet muffler which is the least restrictive. I'll be running my pipes exiting at the steps (short stepside) in fornt of the rear wheels, but want it to be reasonably quiet without a ton of restriction. Any reccomendations?

Dyno Max Superturbo's (14" body)are hard to beat for the money. If you run an H pipe in the system, you should get a nice mellow note cruising......but it will be throaty when you stand on the "loud peddle) For super quiet, you might look at the Hemi turbos(18" body). best of luck, L

I agree with crazy longhorn - the Dynomax Super Turbo or the heavier version. That's what I was thinking before coming in here and reading his response.

I dont care for loud exhaust either. I am going with flowmaster 70 series and an H pipe when I get around to doing the exhaust. They have a nice throaty tone without being obnoxious.

Flowmasters don't flow for crap just fyi, if you're in it just for the sound then they're great. I've got dual 2.5 with crossover on my 92 wagon with 350 and running magnaflow straight throughs. They're very quiet for being one of the highest flowing mufflers on the market, I did a lot of research before choosing them and was in your same situation.

Re: Which "Quiet" Mufflers

I would argue the Flowmaster flow compared to certain models of the magnaflow. I have had both on the same truck and the
Flowmaster improved the flow on it. I also went through two of the Magnaflows in about two years time for each of them. You have to buy the really high dollar ones to get the quality, and possibly the better flow characteristics.

The magnaflows were quiet and sounded good on the road, though.

Re: Which "Quiet" Mufflers

Dynomax "Hemi Super Turbo" muffler is pn 17749 for a 2-1/2" inlet/outlet model that has a 20"-long case. It's good for ~380hp in a dual system, and it's real quiet under normal running, and just a little louder than stock at WOT. An X-type crossover before the mufflers tends to soften the noise a bit, also.

pn 17747 is a similar unit with 2-1/4" in/out.

Re: Which "Quiet" Mufflers

Yep, Ive got a pair of 2.5" Dynomax Super Turbos behind my 454 , I love em. Had 50 Series FLowmasters @ one time, hated em, & It performs better with these Turbos anyway. The Hemi Super Turbos are quieter yet.

If you can afford the Borla's - then get them.
I wish I could have a Borla exhaust...ahhhhhhhh.
