dash wires ???

I'm under my 69 burban trying to clean up wiring ...couple wires that i can't seem to find a home to..
on the back of cig lighter there's a red power , lt.blue to light socket , and a wire connected to the housing but the end of that wire was not connect to anything??? possible ground of connects to something else that shares the ground ???

some one probably had a stereo in there and grounded it to that wire. Maybe some guages that used to hang under the dash.
Not stock, and there SHOULD be no reason to keep it.

I have replaced my harness now, but the first time I cleaned up my dash wiring, I pulled several dozen feet of wire out from under my dash. All I can figure is that Gramp's 8 track needed 10 wires to run it, ha ha...

Same problem here, miles of "extra" wire. I'm not necessarily into keeping things stock but I like to keep things clean. It makes you wonder what some people think when they work on vehicles. My whole dash harness was cut off and then replaced. Someone used wire nuts to connect everything. Now I'm looking for a good used dash harness or I have a lot of splicing and soldering in my future.
