454s running now it's all in the timing...

Hi all,

Thanks to JKade's info for the upper radiator hose part #Gates 20840, my ZZ454 is officially running started the break in this afternoon 20min at 2000 rpms, Yee Haw. The timing is currently set at 32 total however and doing some research online I am also reading, on the Chevelle forums, that 36 might be the way to go. I would rather not use the add 2 degrees till she detonates then back off 1, as I would have done 20 years ago with my 307 '68 nova

Any experience or input for the correct or sweetspot of this motors timing would be appreciated.

Thanks,

-Fred

i keep hearing that 32-36 is the sweet spot but then they were referring to a small block but i dont think that matters, timing is timing afterall, but goodluck with it

how are you ever going to find max hp if you dont play with timing. I build race engines and still power time every 400hp and under motor, one minute to time and youve got it set for life
