i pulled a sway bar off of my parts truck and i am buying all new bushings for it. do i need to grind the braket off the parts truck frame that brings the sway bar down about 3 inches or can i just bolt it to the frame???

Re: sway bar braket?

I think you have to use the bracket to install it, but I'm not 100%. You can buy a bracket for lowered trucks that doesn't hang as low as factory. Hope this helps.

Re: sway bar braket?

Fizzle - that looks like a BIG bar - 1 1/4"?

68 You can do it that way. You can do it with brackets. ECE also makes brackets for lowered trucks - it winds up inbetween the stock bracket and no bracket. Check out their online catalog.

The 1 1/4" bar is available on C30's and crew cabs. I'm not sure how much more anti sway you get but it is like 3 times the 1/2T bar.

Re: sway bar braket?

Yes it's a 1 1/4" bar. I HIGHLY recommend it. I went from a 1 1/8 with stock bushings to the 1 1/4 with poly bushings and it made a huge difference! The 1/14 bars are also on the 73-87 3/4ton and up trucks.

Re: sway bar braket?

I did an FAQ article on the front swaybar with different options for mounting and such. It's in the FAQ if you want to read it.

My front travels up and down 7" and I still can go another 1"
Will the ends of the bar stay in the lower control arms? I've
been told they will not, alas I have not actually tried it yet.

Re: sway bar braket?

I see what you're saying. I've always heard that having bags gives you more of a need for a sway bar. But I don't know about the travel limitations.

Re: sway bar braket?

Mike,

Yeppers, that's what I don't know either, I would rather use a stock type
if it would work, mainly because the aftermarket stuff ain't very cheap
