1972 GMC Fire Truck

I found this and thought it was a nice looking truck. Not something you see everyday. You see alot of 73-87s. Enjoy.

Re: 1972 GMC Fire Truck

I was watching the previews for "The Zodiac" movie and they show a couple of 67/68? (the screen shots were too fast) panel trucks flying down the road to cover the story (they were supposed to be news vans, I guess??)

Old firetrucks are awesome.

Re: 1972 GMC Fire Truck

I used to be on a volunteer fire department that had a brush truck like that. I don't remember exactly what year it was. I think it was a 69 or 70. Awesome truck. I would like to get ahold of it sometime. It was a K20 4 speed manual with a PTO linked to the tanny to run the water pump. You just reminded me that I need to see if and when they would want to sell it.

Re: 1972 GMC Fire Truck

Some time back there was an episode of Trick my Truck or something that built a truck for a kid who wanted to be a Fire/ Rescue person. They built a rollout box in the bed for all of the gear. Does anyone have any specs on something like that? Or is there a commercial company that builds one?

Re: 1972 GMC Fire Truck

Most of them have low miles, have been stored indoors, and have been well maintained.
A friend of mine has 3 of them ,one with 5K miles and the other two with around 20K miles. The red 70 still had the original tires.
