Re: How hard do you make your truck work lets see
Forget the "workin'" truck pics, lets see that restored chevelle
My 67 hauled plenty of crap. It's been used to haul lumber, cord wood, home supplies, tools, gravel (tarp undder it), and I even strapped an 86 toyota bed upside down on top of it once..... but no more. She's 40, she's retired. My Z71 now takes the beatings I've had it so overloaded the front tires almost came off the ground.

Trucks can work and still be shown. We had a 90 SS 454, one day it had 1.5-2yds of dirt in the bed, and the next day it was in a car show, looking beautiful.

Re: How hard do you make your truck work lets see
I never bring a camera with me and I should. I had 19 bails of hay in the back 2 weekends ago. I make at least 4 trips a year with that load.
Last time was the first load on the air ride setup and it worked vry well.

Re: How hard do you make your truck work lets see
Thats the nice things about trucks. I plan on putting dirt bikes in the back of mine (when it's done) and go out to the bush. Might even get a 8 foot camper and throw her on the back and go camping.

Re: How hard do you make your truck work lets see
I'm another one that never has the camera when i'm loaded.
In my old SWB GMC, i had an estimated 2500 pounds of red brick in the bed. Never noticed how loaded it was untill I got in and the mufflers were smacking the slightest bumps in the road, and it was so slow pulling hills like that too. I have pictures of my longhorn, I had a long block, TH350 tranny, about 6 16.5 rims with tires... a few of them were the heavy split rims, had a complete HO52 rear axle, a complete, rotor to rotor front cross member, a longhorn frame chopped into bite sized pieces, then a longhorn bed tossed on top of it all, and still had my big by huge snap on tool box mounted in there with it's manditory load of BS in it. I crossed the scales 3000 lighter after kickin it all off if memory serves. The cad pulled great, and the brakes almost did a good job slowin it down. The overload springs were about 1 to 1 1/2 inches from the point they kick in. I'd feel them as I'd blast through an antersection. |

Re: How hard do you make your truck work lets see
Had 24 4x4 rolls of hay on a 24' gooseneck dual tandem last summer...that was a good load...well on my 3/4 dodge cummins... ) my C/10....well all she has done so far is be pulled 100 miles by the dodge and is now loaded with the old wheels and tires, tools, and parts spread out in the bed...about it...it will be a daily driver though...and will haul a few bags of feed or square hay...thats about it though...I don't plan on working her hard...or driving her hard...she's going back mostly original and she's retired...well shes in surgery now...but when she gets out...she'll be retired.

Re: How hard do you make your truck work lets see
our 67 1 ton is worked every summer and hard. we have two commericial mowers on it one is a zero turn 56'' deck and the other is a 48'' walk behind on the trailer and the bed is loaded with gas tools and trimmers and an extro push mower if we need it. it also will haul a couple of yards of mulch, dirt, or gravel a couple times. we also had it loaded down with a bedful of wood, leaves, sticks and grass. our plow truck doesn't get worked too much be when we need the ol'girl she'll work

Re: How hard do you make your truck work lets see
Well this pic aint hard work but it's the only pic I got on the computer of the truck at work, headin to the dump last summer. Since '79 its been my carpentry, sign shop, race car hauler, and dump runner. Don't think I would have any interest in trucks if they weren't a tool to get things done. I dig drivin em for fun too, but when ya gotta make somethin move, I will use em for that too.

Re: How hard do you make your truck work lets see
I found one..............But this is FAR from the weight we gross while hauling limestone. We were hauling on the state roads, so had to keep it legal Used to pull fertilizer buggies with this truck too.
Our poor old GM's live a working life at this place............Hauled steel with my K-20 this week, only time the rear axle wasn't on the snubbers was when we were running light to get another load.

Re: How hard do you make your truck work lets see
I like what J Leno said about one of his cars the dusonberg that is worth over 5 million doller if you can't drive it to enjoy it why even have itwhat your going to put it in a seal Glass case and just look at it trucks are made to use not go one the weekendsand the New crap Please that stuff is made to brake when these trucks where built with the long bed back in 1958 the first Long bed fleet side metal bed with sides they intened it to last you for the rest of your life But not the eng or the trans they need rebuilding but the body made to go the distance
I laugh at you guy's that say OH i got a scrach in my paint BIG WAAAAAAAAA then drive your beater these old trucks where made to work and enjoy thats whay i own 14 of the dam things |

Re: How hard do you make your truck work lets see
Right now my truck is supporting about 4 ft of snow...
may not sound like much, but it's the hardest it's worked since i've owned it. Hell, for the Last 4 years It was vacationing in the desert (hesperia, CA) and didn't even have to move an inch.

Re: How hard do you make your truck work lets see
well my 68 isnt running yet,,but my 84 3/4 has a 3000 puond cab over camper on it now,,and it has been onther for over 6 months..when i had my lawn care bussiness. i would haul 10 yards f mulch between the trailer and truck, would haul 2 yards of pea gravel in the beds..have hauled 118 used concrete blocks with concrete stil on them, and about 30 or more rock froma nd old water fal, ranged in size from big to huge..i know i was heavey on those 2 loads..my mud flaps are normally 4 inches off the ground with 80 puonds of air in the itres..on those 2 trips, i had to tie my mud flaps all the way up to the rear bumper, and pull my 5 1/4 drop hitch out to keep from dragging on some fo the roads around here..now i wont work the 68 that hard,,thats what the 84 is for, but will haul stuff with it,,it is a truck..

Re: How hard do you make your truck work lets see
Now if you truly belive what you are saying then you should only have 1 not 14. One truck should be able to everything you could need it to do. So if you have 14 then 13 just sit around and get looked at

'72customcamper...............The DOT would love to crash in on that load
What axle setup is under that trailer? We've hauled some unreal weight with ours, but I can't say we can out do that.............30+ ton on a bumper pull trailer.
