I have a 67 chevy with a 3 inch body lift. The fan does not line up with the radiator anymore, will this be a problem? I am running a bored out 454 and I don't want it to overheat. My friend suggested having a shroud made, but that is 250 dollars. Is it possible to cut out the radiator supports and move them down?

another solution would be electric fans.

I used the stock shroud and trimmed-out the lower area to clear the fan.It worked fine,even low-range 4 wheelin`.Without the shroud,it wanted to heat up just driving in stop & go traffic.

The engine has a high flow water pump and a 4 core radiator, if i just cut out the bottom of the shroud will it keep a BB cool?

Yes,I had an 11:1 450hp small block in my Blazer I described up there.I ran sand,mud,and bumper to bumper beach traffic.W/o the shroud,forget it.Everything made it hot.

***How`s that Camaro 355/Powerglide?Sounds cool.

The body lift should have come with enough bushings to lift the radiator support to make it even with the rest of the body and since your radiator is connected to the radiator support, it shouldn't be an issue.

Oh, I see. Becasue your radiator IS higher, it doesn't match up with the engine which sits lower than it used to. Did you try turning your shroud upside downn?

I have always cut the bottem of the shroud out. One was my DD and i run it 150.000 miles like that with no problem. It wasn't a bored out 454 though but with your cooling system i think you be alright.

Thanks for the input, I will trim the shroud and then run it. If I have any problems after that, I guess I will just move the radiator down.

*** The camaro is pretty fun, sometimes I just wish it had either a 3 speed tranny or a Big Block,l Oh well, mabay some day

I installed a 454 in my 68. Went with a new aluminum radiator and electric fan. The electric fan and a small shroud is all I run and the cooling seems to work great. (I do live in the north, not too hot) I had to move the entire engine forward 1-1/2 inches and there was not enough space for stock set ups. I have a 2 inch body lift. Check my profile and you can see a picture of the fan and radiator.

I'd second the electric fan install, if your still having problem with just cutting the shroud.
Having a shroud period makes a huge difference, don't pull it off just for clearance sake.

I found an elec fan that fits into our factory shroud, made it a 2-speed and haven't had an issue yet.
Not a big block but it is a 383 stroker that no doubt makes more heat the a stock 350.
