Yet another bone-head move...

Has this ever happened to you? I've been converting my '67 to power front disks, but life always gets in the way. For the past week, I've been trying to decide to bend my new lines myself, or go with the front kit from Inline tube. After I finally decided to cough up the $$$ for the kit, and ordering it this morning, I FOUND THE SAME D**N KIT IN THE BED OF THE TRUCK!!! Best part was, I bought it in April, 2005!!!

Re: Yet another bone-head move...

Yes. During my build I have ordered two sets of clear tail and park lens for my truck. The day I got the 2nd set I went to put them in a safe place in the garage, picked a nice secluded shelf, set the ladder there and when I climbed up there I saw there was already four clear lens sitting there, doh! I had to laugh at my consistency though, I could have picked any of ten places to put the new lenses in my cluttered garage and not seen that I already had those lenses, but I picked the same place... weirrrrd.

Re: Yet another bone-head move...

Man I've gone 5 or more years without remembering stuff I bought. I am a packrat, so when I see something I might need 5 years from now, I buy it and stash it, GOD only knows just how much stuff I have and there may be 2 or 3 of the same thing in there as well!!

See this is why these projects take so long we keep spending money on part we already have Guilty here too. For weather stripping..... and rear marker lenses....and ok so that was it.

Re: Yet another bone-head move...

Not by a long shot are you the only one. I found a bag of stuff just yesterday that I didn't know I had including a new mirror head for the inside. Had a new one I bought from my brother but it won't stay up so now I luckily happened across its replacement. I've looked in the past on the Bilstein shock sight for shocks for the p/u but they never had any listed for the rear. This weekend at the Goodguys show there was a local distributor and the now have them for front and back and also for both leaf and coil rears. Now I just have to scam the coin.

Hello Dave67,

I was hoping when I read this the 67 was your age and not your trucks age. I have to take a picture of this part that I ordered for my 70' as I do not know where it goes or why I ordered it. I'm 55 I wonder what 65 will be like in the shop.

esll.

Inline said they'll look for it, but it was "fast tracked", meaning FedEx might show up with it. I'll just have to send it back.
Now I want to clean out the shed and see if that's where I left Hoffa

I don't care who you are, now that's funny. I've done that so many times in teh last 40 years that it scares me. Actually, being able to say, in the last 40 years, really scares me.

72steel. I'm almost sure your tail/ back up lights are different on a 'burb.
Anyone?

Oh Heck YEAH!.

I have duplicates of many things in many areas. I normally find mine like yours, right after I bought it and got the new one on.

yea the burb lenses are different than the trucks

i think itd be cool to mod the truck lenses onto the burbs because IMO the truck lenses look better

Re: Yet another bone-head move...

Dave67, not as costly as your double purchase, but I was looking in my barn for a 4 speed shift boot and could find one - thought I had bought one a while back. Go pick up a new one and that next day I went to a different bench where I pile up stuff that is waiting to be used and there was the shift boot I needed - sad thing is, it was sitting right in plain view - couldn't believe I had walked right past it the day before when I was looking for it.

I've done the same thing (rear brake hardware kit and other items I block out)...I stop buying stuff ahead of time and now I only order if I'm less then a week away from needing it.

Re: Yet another bone-head move...

how much did inline charge for shipping the set? I need to buy a set for my K-10 SWB. I don't have the time or skills to bend my own set, on the other hand I don't have $$$ to buy a pre-bent set! Let me know if yours will fit and they dont take them back...

msgross,
I'm thinking the shipping was around 10-12 bucks, but I checked my cc account, and it doesn't look like they charged me, meaning I don't think they sent them out. On the down side, I'm almost sure a K-10 is going to be different than a C-20. If at all possible, I do reccomend Inline, because anything I've bought from them has been top quality, and well worth the $$$
