Frame mounted gas tank problems
Hello All,
I have recently added a rear frame mounted poly gas tank to my 68 chevy short wide. I ran in to some issues while placing the bed back on the truck. The bed of the truck won't fit all the way forward due to hitting the back of the gas tank. It seems to me the tank is mounted to high or I need to modify one of the cross brases on the bed. I've attached some pics to better show what I'm talking about Thanks 68 short wide 406cid |

Yes, the cross brace needs to be removed or trimmed to fit around the tank.

Trim the bed cross rail.
I have done that to mine, and I thnk that most others with this type of tank have done it as well.... |

Mine too. Won't fit w/o cutting the brace! At least you have your bed off. I had hell under mine with a saws-all trying to cut that thing w/o just hacking it up.

thanks alot for posting this ..i am doing the same kit soon ..question ..does cutting the cross brace allow the tank to sit lower or just forther back i hink right? so its effectivly lower because of the angle of the frame rails.right? also what size is that hose ? my tank kit has a small diameter fitting for the hose ..thanks and tanks again...leon
