Pistons look different

i pulled one cylinder head today and noticed that my pistons have 4 grooves like for a 32 valve engine but i only have a 16 valve engine is this normal or may i not have the same engine as what came in the truck or just a result of rebuild

Re: Pistons look different

No worries; this allows the piston to be used on either bank.

They can always be used on either bank. What the four reliefs do is allow them to be installed backward or forward without ruining a new rebuild which is handy for a lot of mechanics.
