its about time
Somewhat UPDATED 1/16/11 (pg 3), fianlly starting to work on the truck soon it will be free of the holes that were never meant to be (rust) and all one color again the goal is to have it back together and roadworthy for the drive to goodguys in dallas this october Here is what i started with my build plans as of now are to go back original with it as much as possible with the exception of the stance and wheels and tires. going back med olive green with white roof, but with black original style interior, keeping lower body trim and tailgate trim. i guess i will make this my slow build thread thanks for looking Last edited by ostncoln; 01-16-2011 at 01:57 PM. Re: its about time
Of course, you don't just want to leave a big hole there, flies will come in.

Re: its about time
well its been slow but finally got something done. most of the bodywork is done on the front end & cab now its on to the bed.
so now that the rockers are all done i think next is getting the suspension put on. today was first time the bed has been on the truck in months and it sits up too high Last edited by ostncoln; 09-19-2007 at 11:59 PM. Reason: pics |

Re: its about time
this afternoon my dad and i made a run out to the boneyard to look for a ste of steel wheels for his 47 fleetmaster project and while i was there i noticed a 70 model that had just come in with the rear bumper still on it.
i ended up scoring the bumper brackets, filler panel, tag light, gravel shields, all bolts, and two wheels with crap tires for the outragous price of $35 |

Re: its about time
got started on the rear suspension. i went ahead and made some 2" blocks with the square tubing so the rear drop is 7" right now. its hard to tell what it is going to look like wih the front being stock and no bed on it. one thing i know is if i leave it ike that i will need a c-notch. anyway heres a few pics.

Re: its about time
well i got it out today and drove it around. ride is good. here are couple shots of the stance. you will just have to imagine the bed on it.
man its good to drive it. i cant wait to ged the bed back on it. the wheels rubbing on the control arm wasnt as bad as i thought it would be though , just in tight turns like every other spindle drop i have done with the 15" wheel i still need to fix the seat though, the adjuster is broken so when you hit the brakes you slide into the steering wheel and slam to the back when you gas it Last edited by ostncoln; 11-15-2007 at 08:50 PM. |
