$4500 for that truck is a pretty decent price. Take a very close look under the cab. look at the cab mounts, the rockers, the floor pans and get inside the truck and look up in the top right corner (passenger side) check around the window frame for possible rust.
Next area is up front under the radiator support passenger fender under the battery.
ALL ARE RUST PRONE

Like he said, just look for rust issues, also the standard stuff, oil or tranny leak, etc. But I'd think 3,500 would be a good price if it is mechanically sound.

Re: Can you guys help (Pictures)

long stepsides are ugly in my opinion (you asked for it).

it looks like it's in good shape, but i bet there is rust on it, and i say this because a) the body seam next to the shifer is rusted, b) the truck has a mint paint job -- not the original color either, c) it's in PA.

i would follow previous advice to look at the a) cab supports b) rear cab corners -- reach down inside them c) under the battery tray, d) reach inside the kick panel vents and feel in there, e) look all around the windshield, inside and out, along the dash, up under the dash, etc. for water leaks/rust.

it will be harder to see the rust with the new paint.

if you don't really find any rust in those locations (fat chance), i would offer up $3500 and see if the buyer will bite, if not, I bet he counteroffers at $4000 or less.

Re: Can you guys help (Pictures)

fleet side is more desirable INMO but there are many beautiful step sides out there. its alot harder to make a long stepside look slick though. my first truck was a '66 long step and i thought was cool as hell because theres not many out there. its just a matter of personal preference. id also bring magnet and check for bondo, too since the paint seems pretty fresh. could have been a quick spray and sell id say $3200-$3800 would make it a good buy.

Re: Can you guys help (Pictures)

first off long steps arent real desireable. it looks like it use to be a 6cyl truck. i believe if this gentlemen did the swap and was too lazy to clean up the inside of the engine bay, and paint the engine. i would hate to see what is hiding under that pretty red paint. are the kick panels rusted out at the bottom? what is on them glue? what about the bed, is the wood rotted?
i would say 2k tops for me

Re: Can you guys help (Pictures)

I'm presuming the bed is in bad shape because it has the diamond plate in it. I'd say $2,500 to $3000. I like the long steps but the above is correct, they aren't that popular so not worth as much.

If you do buy it - replace that rubber fuel line going from the pump to the carb with metal - that is a hazard as it sits. A little leak right on to those headers and your truck is up in flames.
