Rally wheels, What tire size?

Hey I just got a set of 15x8 rallies for the truck and now I need some tires. I looked around here a bit and read a few other posts.

I need the tires to tuck if and when I bag it. For now they just have to fit with the 4/6 drop that is coming soon. I looked at John's beautiful blue truck with blue rallies and I like them. I believe his sizes are 265/50. I want some meat but I don't want it to rub and I want to run the same size front and back.

What sizes does everybody run?

Re: Rally wheels, What tire size?

Not sure about bags, but I know seeten's truck had 275/60's with about a 4/6 drop with no rubbing issues. I would probably lean more to a 245/60 or 255/60 tire for the front and run the 275/60's in the rear. What kind of rallies do you have? Vette rallies? Cheyenne rallies? 6 lug or 5 lug? What depth backspacing?

I would almost recommend 7" rallies for the front if you plan to bag it.

Re: Rally wheels, What tire size?

I have the 5 lug rallies 8 inch. I really would like to run all tires the same size is the reason I got all 8 inch.

Re: Rally wheels, What tire size?

I had 275/70 r-15's on my bagged truck, but I also had uncut lower cups. I didn't have any clearance issues and might have been able to go 2" lower in the front.

I would think 60's would not be an issue.

Re: Rally wheels, What tire size?

295/50/15's on the rear, they stick out the wheel well about 1" with 15x8's. When I measured them, they look more like 8.5's???? 295/50's are out of the game for ya. 60's are about as wide as you can go.

Re: Rally wheels, What tire size?

some people dont realize that the first # is your width example 275 is 275 mm across. 60 is 60% of 275mm, and is your height. so just for example and 275 50 would be the same width as a 275 60 but slightly smaller diameter. hope this helps

if you have a friend or relative at WalMart they are pretty decent. I had to order them and wait a week. but they were cheaper than sam's Club.

Re: Rally wheels, What tire size?

also check www.tirerack.com

I've had good experiences with them, they have a nice selection, great rating system, and usually you can find something on sale cheap...

Hell, even if i'm not gonna buy from them, I do my research there.

Re: Rally wheels, What tire size?

I've had the same question but hadn't asked it yet because I wasn't quite ready to buy tires.

However, I've got 10 inch rallyes. Will I have any problems when I bag my truck?

Re: Rally wheels, What tire size?

math for 275/60-15...
275 x .60( 60% of 275 is sidewall height) = 165 (per sidewall),
165 x 2 (2 sidewalls) = 330,
330 divided by 25.4 = 12.99 (converted to inches),
12.99 + 15 (rim diameter) = 27.99 inch tall tire...
this works with any rim diameter...

Re: Rally wheels, What tire size?

Just got a set of 275/60R15 BFG for $96 each with free shipping. Bought 255/60R15 for the fronts for $86 each. Got em all from http://www.discounttiredirect.com. The 255's were on back order for a week but all arrived quickly after they came in.

Re: Rally wheels, What tire size?

I am runnig 275/60/15's on 8" truck rallye wheels. I have a ece 4/6 drop. no rubbing issues. If you bagged it the fronts would probally rub because the offset is out to far and would rub the fender opening. Hope this helps.
