Need help with this truck!!!

I don't know if i am allowed to do this but going to give it a shot. A guy i know has this 69 chevy that he wants to sale that he picked about 2 weeks ago and now is out of a job. He did some trading for the truck. I am looking at buying it, i have a idea what its worth but wanted some of the boards thoughts on the truck. I have yet to see the truck in person but my wife took a few pics and sent them to me at work.

The truck has a 350 with a turbo350 tranny, the fuel tank has been moved to under the truck. The side markers have been shaved, the gas fill has been shaved, the fire wall has been shaved. There is no after market air in it but the cab looks to have factory vents, all the rubber has been changed but the vent windows and they are behind the seat. The gas fill is in the bed and the bed has a sprayed in bed linner, There is no carpet in it looks like the inside was not complete yet.... But just from the pics its a very sharp looking truck. Shoot my wife even likes the way the truck looks, she said its a very sharp looking truck...she did say that there is some chips in the front of the hood where it looks like a rock hit it and she also said that the paint was cracking ion one spot on the hood... I have been depending on her for info... I am not due to go home till the 10th of this month so i want be able to look at it real close....so if yall would give me some thoughts on what it would be worth.. I am very interested in it but want to have a idea what to aproach him with...

Re: Need help with this truck!!!

Same here, I would say around 5500-6500 hundred dollar range truck, compared to what I paid for mine and what has been done to that one.

Re: Need help with this truck!!!

The guy that had the truck before this guy got ride of all the rust, but not sure if he replaced all the metal, and not sure how it went about doing it. As far as i can tell the truck looks great but pics do not show everything...To me looks like the bed and cab or off alittle on the body line... Now i can't wait to get home and look at it and see for myself....all that thing is alittle more TLC and me.....lol

Re: Need help with this truck!!!

Pics can hide alot, you really need to see it in person...rust free, $4500-$6,500 if the motor and tranny is good and strong. Wife thinks it's cool! Priceless!

Re: Need help with this truck!!!

Well got to look at the truck yesterday, the guy brought it tooo the house...he is in a bad bind for some money...It wanted 7000.00 for it.....After looking it over real good told him that he was out of his mind and i would only give 4500.00...this is some of the things i found, the floor boards and rockers had repaired but not with metal...with fiberglass...the bed had a sprayed in bed liner but if you looked at it close it had another bed floor over the top of that one before it was sprayed... just lots of things there was bondo all over in different places......The truck looked and sounded real nice but if you looked real real hard you saw these things...The best looking thing about the truck was the fire wall...but just the more i looked the more i found it had been lowered by heating the springs also. The guy who had built the truck spent time in it but just was not done to complete, to me looks like he got in a hurry to finsh it and cut corners. This would make a good daily driver while i am building my 68 but no way was i paying that for a cosmetic cleaned up truck...So i gave him my offer and he left so who knows he may be back in a few days in a way more bad bind.. and take what i offered. Oh and i didn't take any more pics was too late in the after noon.

Not worth 4500.00 if it is the way you described!

Yeah, you can put as much lipstick on a pig as you want but in the end its still just a pig.

Yeah, I'd say around that range too- it is a shortbed, but people try to make them "look nice" and don't address anything of importance (or signifigant expense). If he's cuttin' corners on the stuff you can see, I garantee he's cuttin' corners on the stuff you can't see - just consider that in your offer, my .02.

Re: Need help with this truck!!!

Lots of cut corners = trouble down the road. It looks like a good truck, but with all the cheap repairs I would be weary and your offer seems to be good. I would probably look for another.

Re: Need help with this truck!!!

I'd go $ 4K low end,.. up to $ 6K high end,..
You may get a gem or you may need to add some green$$$, to get it up to snuff.
Value points are the shaved markerlights, gas filler, tailgate & rear bumper,,..and its drive able..
The down side is what you'll find ----AFTER---you own it.

I'd suggest keeping some green for sale tax, registration, license tabs as these items can add about a
$1,000.oo to the purchasr price ( +/- )

Good luck to buyer & seller !!
