Spring Help!
These springs came on the front of my K5 when I got it. Of course they weren't this pretty, I brushed them up and put a little paint on them. From measurements that I have taken from other people, they seem to be 6 inch springs. 1st question, can anyone tell what brand they are or if they are from another vehicle of something? 2nd (my main question) Has anyone else had trouble removing this type of metal sleeve from a spring eye? This thing is killing me! Me and Jtrux have tried everything we can think of...BFH, sawzall, air chisel, you name it, THIS METAL IS HARD! The only thing left that we can think of is taking it to someone with a mill and have it machined out. At first I thought I would just have to collapse the cylinder and it would fall out, but it seems like the two metals have grown together at this point. By the way, the other side tapped right out of the spring with a screwdriver and claw hammer. Any ideas/tricks?

You might try welding a heavywall pipe into the bushing. When it cools, it will retract some. The pipe will also give you something to push on to press it out on a hydraulic press. I don't know what brand of springs or amount of lift they are, but they will be stiff riding!

That looks like pretty stout stuff! The original springs on mine had to be removed also and the only way for me to get them out was to use a sawzall to cut thru the metal bushing which after this I was able to get a chisel in under it and curl it out. It looks like that is what youare trying to do but I thought I would throw my experience into the ring. Good luck!

If I remember right, the rear bushings came out no problem.
The front ones would not move at all. I took mine to the corner garage and they pressed them out and put new ones in for about $25 more than I would have paid for new bushings. Well worth it. It worked out this time to take advantage of a garage's discounts on parts compared to mine.

I had a bear of a time getting those out of my stock rear springs. I used an air hammer with a pointed chisel bit - was a huge pain but finally got them out.
