need help identifying some gears

what kind of gearset is this? posi, locker???? they only info i have is its out a 76ish cab and chassis ford 1 ton drw, dana 70, 4:10s

That appears to be the older style 2 piece open carrier...before you get mad, that is a good thing if you're wanting to use it under a muddin truck...the Detroit locker for the D70 2pc. carrier is pretty cheap.

That is a helical gear set with a lot of teeth missing.

Ah yeah, be very careful about cleaning after a mess like that. There is more of that trash rolling around in that housing than you would ever believe. Pressure washer, degreaser....,ore pressure washer. Replace every bearing and seal.

yeah those gears are pretty aint they im guessing thats from the 2 pinion bearings letting it jump around (what ive heard anyway)

what do i need to search for, just a detriot locker for a d70?

strength wise, how does that rear compare to a good working HO52?

i was hoping for something fun (aka 2 wheel rooster tails) without having to spend more money, but if i have to spend i like to hear cheap

it'll probably be a while before i put it in, the trans guy at work quoted me $250 to rebuild it. plus ill want to redo all the brakes first.
