horn issues

Where are the best places to run down a horn problem. I have put power to the horn from the battery and it works. I'm guessing it's not hooked up right in the column? Right now I have a 70's camaro steering wheel, if that helps any. Thanks again. sb

Re: horn issues

check your fuse first. For the relay, refer to the wiring diagrams available on the board. Could also be in your turn signal switch..

Good luck

Re: horn issues

Too funny screamin. Trust me, I'd leave it alone, but have to get it inspected at the end of June. As far as my signals goe, I need it fixed too. signals work, but it doesn't cancel when I turn left.

Re: horn issues

Can someone point me in the right direction on the horn relay and the horn fuse? Thanks.

Re: horn issues

IIRC, the relay on my '72 is up under the dash, somewhere in the area above the gas pedal. Pushing your horn button should send a ground to the relay, causing it to operate (you will be able to hear it click).

The relay sends 12vdc to the horns, which are grounded through their mounting hardware.

Not sure which is your horn fuse -- it should be identified on your fuse block, though.

Re: horn issues

Here is a way to test your horn to see if it is in steering wheel.
There are 3 wires on horn relay-red -green -black
Red--power to relay
Green --takes power to horn
Black--Groung wire from steering wheel.

Remove black wire from relay --take a jumper wire and ground the relay where you removed the blacl wire. If horn blows your problem is the ground wire in steering wheel.
