More on the 67 GMC, with pictures this time
I am pondering purchasing another truck that came up for sale in my area but had a few questions for the "experts" (i plan to post some pics of this tonight as well)
Its a '67 GMC longbed - small back window, no side markers, leaf springs. But............ it has a squared off 69-72 style hood, as well, the rear end is 5 lug and the front is still 6 (guess someone ran out of $$) Since it has Rally wheels, that is not noticeable until you squint, As well, the guy installed some late model highback, power Trans Am bucket seats or something which look totally cheesy stock spec 350 motor with q jet, but someone has installed a floor shift with a"shift kit" or something in the tranny, so it does not shift smooth the paint is presentable,(i'd call it a good 10-15 footer) but shows a few signs of being a first or second time bodywork effort on close inspection. The guy states he was gonna run an ad for 3500, but will deal (which means it might sell for 25-2700) Is a truck with the above issues even worth dealing with for 2500 or so, being a longbed with a 1/2 done 5 lug conversion and possible later front sheetmetal. The cab is solid, and any rust in the rockers, etc. has been repaired................... but, Pics later will help, i know SWEET SPEAKER HOLE UGLY ASS MOTOR Last edited by streetstar; 06-08-2007 at 10:45 PM. |

Around here they'd put a bumper on it and ask 5K for it. I think 2,500 would be a good deal (pending close inspection of typcial rust areas for bad bodywork and bondo.)

Re: More on the 67 GMC, with pictures this time
Not only am i not sure if the above '67 (or whatever it is ) truck worth 25 -2700.00
But i will enclose photos of several reasons i don't need another project -- but then again, i can always use another truck (file that in the -- i'll get to it one of these days - drawer) These photogs are of the partially finished mess i have around my garage and driveway starting with big projects and working down to little ones My '75 -- used to run very well, now needs a motor transplant. Have a motor for it, just need a long weekend to drop it in My '71 -- the only classic truck i have that runs -- it will remain as is -- but hope to bag it someday after i replace the floor and rockers 69 GMC project -- the truck i have had since i was 15 (in my 30's now) - need to finish it someday Another view of the 69 Motor for the 69 pro-street project- 496 BB Lest i forget the harley -- thankfully - it actually runs too, and comes in handy if mama is ever gone with my DD And last but not least, the Mini-trail projects -- i actually finished one of these (possibly the first resto. project i have ever finished in my life), but now my 4 year old nephew has it and won't give it back -- damnit. Oh well, as you can see, i have some fairly serious problems -- mainly, i haven't sold a thing in years - i just keep piling on. (Some people would not consider this a problem, i know ---) The 67 above looks OK, but i just wanted to poll you guys to ask if i should buy that 67/69 GMC above for 26 or 2700 clams and add to the pile? or take that same cash and roll it over into the minibikes and 69 project (i know the nationality and vintage of all of its sheetmetal at least) If i was independently wealthy, i wouldn't be garnering advice like this -- i would just buy what i want and be done with it, but unfortunately, i too, live in a world where 2 or 3 grand has to be budgeted for in a give and take way. |

I think the`67 looks ok.But,it`s kinda put together and unfinished.Do you really need to spread it thinner?I`d understand if it was one you could hop in and go as is.You have plenty to work on.Nice Sporty.

Hmmm, looks like you should pass and let someone else take a crack at that GMC.
I've always like the early Cheyennes, especially blue/white, and red/white. Nice trucks. Now finish 'em

Yeah -- Dangit -- you guys are right ---
2500 - 3000 clams could be spread around the garage pretty nicely. That GMC is just too close to me , geographically. I have to look at it everyday......... just ...... sitting there with a faded for sale sign in the window --- Makes me want to sell it myself for the guy to get it out of my hair Trucks are not even my main hobby (mtn bikes and motocross claim that honor), i have just been obsessing about them for a while. |

Re: More on the 67 GMC, with pictures this time
well, maybe later you`ll get it for 1/2.That sign could do alot of fadin`.If it goes,oh well,I bet there`ll be more. You`re no different than me.I have too many projects and I always want another.
The grille is not a`67,either.Prolly the hood and grille came from the same donor. He prolly didn`t change the front hubs because he wanted drop spindles and that could give 5-lug up front.

Considering how many irons you already have in the fire I would pass unless I could get it for a steal!

Re: More on the 67 GMC, with pictures this time
If there’s not allot bad body work or hidden rust I think it a good price. That truck would sell here for 3500 easy. First stop should be a thrift shop and unload all those kids toys in the back….unless you have kids then it even a better deal!!lol

Re: More on the 67 GMC, with pictures this time
I've made a somewhat half-hearted decision to pass on that thing unless it sits long enough to dip into the 2 grand territory--- but on the brighter side ---
I pulled my '69 project truck out of the garage and cleaned the windows, emptied the bed of all the beer cans and cheeseburger wrappers- etc., and am readying it for 2 weeks of wrenching -- first order of business is to yank the small block and shelve the TH-400, then take the A-arms (and other misc. front end parts ) to be sand blasted and powdercoated- then i'll ................ well, who knows sounds like another build thread Last edited by streetstar; 06-09-2007 at 11:21 AM. |

I think you made the right decision. You might end up being one of those guys we dislike. You know, a whole load of cars/trucks behind the garage that he will get to one of these days, but they just sit there rusting away.
