Well, from what I know there's two different kinds. One indicator is shorter and points throug a shift indicator that's smaller, metal, and has a different shaped lense. Those I believe are '67-'70. '71-'72 have a longer sloping indicator with a plastic framed lense that's larger and in my opinion easier to break.
I've had several auto columns and that's one difference I remember well. The metal ones you have to find used, but the plastic ones for '71-72 you can buy aftermarket or through GM. Thanks for the pic, and the heads-up for where to plug this thing in. I'll check it out tomorrow.
