Edelbrock 1406 questions
Got it mounted, now I need to know where to hook my vacuum lines to it. I need to run one to the dizzy, but where do I hook it on the carb? I have a fitting on the manifold for the tranny and I know where to hook the vacuum for the booster, I guess I just plug the leftover fittings. Oh yeah, where do y'all connect the power wire for the choke?

Re: Edelbrock 1406 questions
I think it is the port on the left front of the carb (facing the truck from the front. Check to see if it has vacume at idle, if not then that's it. Power wire pull it from a keyed 12v source. I pulled mine from the junction (fuse block) keyed power.

Re: Edelbrock 1406 questions
I have the 1405 which is a mechanical choke so i can't help you there,
I am using the port on the front of the carb going to the dizzy, there are two i use the one to the left if you are looking at it from the radiator.

Re: Edelbrock 1406 questions
I'll bet you like it, especially if you are changing from a quadra-dump.

Re: Edelbrock 1406 questions
That's the hope anyways. Yeah, it had the original quadrajunk on it.

Re: Edelbrock 1406 questions
The PO of my truck was a creative fellow. He installed the carb with the mechanical choke, but didn't have a way to control it in the cab... ah hah the original a/c is gutted so he decided to use the hot to cold slide lever on the a/c panel... Cold means it's choked Hot means it's open.
I still haven't fixed that yet... Not to mention he had the dizzy plugged into the right port, but for some reason had plugged the line on purpose...

Billa - you still talking about the small ports on the left and right?

If I remember correctly that wire is green. It is an easy to find it with a test light. Just hook up the light, get in the cab, and cycle the key a few times. If it lights up with key on, you're good to go. I'd post a picture but my hard drive took a digger last week. All my photos are on the other computer.

Re: Edelbrock 1406 questions
Right - so which one is which?
The one above the throttle butterflies (ported) and one below (manifold)? (From the front of the engine)... DLB |

Re: Edelbrock 1406 questions
This picture sucks, but the one on the left is the ported vacuum that goes to the dizzy. The one on the right is the full vacuum I blocked off, and the one in the middle goes to your PCV. There's also one in the back for the brake booster

Re: Edelbrock 1406 questions
I know this thread is from a month or so ago but I have a question and the responders on this thread knew about Edelbrock carbs.. My truck does not want to come off the automatic choke till its super warm. The truck is hard enough on gas without that happening. I do not know that much about ckokes or fast idles but I noticed that I have choke connection not hooked up
( see pic) on my carb and am wondering if this connection needs power to make the choke work properly. My carb is an Edelbrocl 1406 model.

Re: Edelbrock 1406 questions
Yeah, you need to have that empty terminal hooked up, that's how your elec. choke gets it's power. Mine is run to an open 'ignition unfused' spot in my fuse panel.

Re: Edelbrock 1406 questions
With the others. It needs to be hooked to a terminal that has power only when the key is turned on (so you don't kill your battery )

Re: Edelbrock 1406 questions
I'm coming to your town next year for the GWRRA Wing Ding which runs from July 3rd to 6th, 2008.. There will be near 10,000 Honda Goldwings running around Greenvile then.. We booked rooms at the Hawthorn Suites, are you familiar with that hotel and is it a decent place?

Re: Edelbrock 1406 questions
One other tidbit here. If you look at your pict you can see that the choke is also adjustable for lean/rich. Once you have power hooked to it you can shorten the choke time or lengthen if it isn't warning up enough!!
